THE RACE: Romney not first politico dogged by past

We don't elect our Presidents based on the economy alone, as self-serving as Romney and fellow-travelers may be pushing this nonsensical mantra. Character matters, and so do other matters such as foreign policy and trust.

NOW, about character ...

ROMNEY’S CRUEL INTENTIONS AND ACT at Cranbrook—A SERIOUS CHARACTER FLAW. SELF-SERVING TO CALL SUCH A CRUEL AND HUMILIATION-INFLICTING ACT SIMPLY A PRANK OR WILD BEHAVIOR.

Firstly, Romney says ""if anyone was hurt by that I apologize for that". Of course, some one was hurt and others who participated, saw or heard about it were deeply shocked and offended. One of them called the incident "vicious."

Second, the fact that Romney is the only one who didn't seem to be appalled is most telling. He still cannot bring himself to be horrified, sickened, disgusted, dismayed or shocked by what he did. He says, “if anyone was hurt …” He still is not sure that anyone was hurt. Does this man have any conscience at all?

Thirdly, Romney couldn't recall details. How convenient! Every one else remembered except Romney the instigator and ringleader who plotted, planned and executed the offending incident. If Romney disputes it, let him assert categorically that it never happened. AND SO SHOULD ANY OTHER DISPUTANT.

Overall, what we see here is a troubling issues of character: Romney's desire to impose his view of the world to others and inability to tolerate other people's chosen lifestyle. Romney failed to accord another human being his human dignity and freedom. He forcibly cut off his victim’s hair, an ultimate act of humiliation. He imposed his will on him and his will.

We see many of these issues, in different settings, forms and aspects play out in Romney's adult life as a business man, politician and public figure. Those issues include lying, heartlessness, cruel behavior (remember the treatment Romney gave his own dog). Remember also how he treated workers as a vulture capitalist. A vulture can never be an eagle!
