Puppy on Runway Delays Flights at NYC Airport

NEW YORK (AP) — A puppy named Byrdie delayed several flights at New York's LaGuardia Airport when she escaped from her crate and frolicked around a busy runway.

The Port Authority says the 30-pound Rhodesian ridgeback scampered around the runway for about 10 minutes on Wednesday while authorities unsuccessfully tried to collar her.

The agency says they had to find the pooch's owner aboard the Memphis-bound Delta Air Lines Airbus to help catch it.

The owner was brought out on to the runway. She called out to the 14-month-old pup and she came running to her.

Thank God that the puppy is ok...My gosh, not even puppies are safe to fly on a airplane. What if it would have been a toddler? That airlines should be more careful with their passengers, yes and that includes animals, because animals are our children!!The Airlines, should let that poor woman fly for free, for the pain and suffering they caused her and her dog, because it is up to the Airlines to make sure that the passengers along with their animals to be safe and secure. I bet that poor woman never rides that Airline again!!

this is a little nit-picky I know, but a 14 month old dog is an adult, not a puppy.

I don't know how this was even possible. I've flown my dog with Delta from NY. There's some many procedures not to mention zip-ties that go on the dogs cage. How could this happen?? that's what I want to know Associated Press. Dig deeper please.
