Gulf Oil Spill a No-Win Situation for Obama

I just hope someone reads my comment. This situation should not be about politics. Or Obama's 'outward appearance' or 'showing emotion'. This is not about corporate bailouts. It's not about hurricane Katrina, which was an act of god that happened to strike a hurricane-prone area.

This is about an environmental disaster that should have been fixed well over a month ago.

No offense to anyome but forget the Coast Guard. Where is the U.S. Navy? Where is the Army Corp. of Engineers? Where are some genious engineering professor from MIT, Stanford or some other great university? Where is some brilliant engineer from the private sector (besides BP)?

I don't care about Mr. Obama's popularity. Or how he's doing in the polls. THIS IS ABOUT AN OIL SPILL THAT NEEDED TO BE FIXED YESTERDAY! Some smart people say the human race needs to expand into space within the next 50 years. To help protect our survival. Is this why? Because we can't even manage to plug a leaky pipe? Seriously?

I think everyone should just stop all the how did what and just work to stop the oil from doing more damage. STOP the protesting and help clean up what thay can!! What is done is done, stop all the B.S. and go to the beach and help clean up some of it.

Obama and British Petroleum are corrupt. Now I read in newspaper that BP told Obama and his Chicago thugs to sell their BP shares before the news gets out! Why doesn't the SEC look into this. Is this illegal? Isn't this a crime?

Should Obama and any government official who profited from BP's crimes be prosecuted?

You know what they say: Perception is EVERYTHING. It matters little if Obama has really handled this crisis well, or not. His outward appearance and mannerisms show a detached and strangely emotionless president. He needs to put more passion and conviction in his statements. If he does not improve his connection with people, he will end up carrying this oil spill on his back the rest of his term.

recover petroleum near the coast of usa is a big mistake, Obama should take some strong policies to end this disaster.

Oh, sure, the Obama Administration should take over control of the gulf oil spill. Makes sense considering what a fantastic job they have done marshaling the booms, relief workers on the shore, etc.

The truth is that Gov. Bobby Jindal had to wait weeks for the federal government to make a decision on whether to build, or not, additional barrier islands to keep the oil from hitting the wetlands--and valuable time was lost even though the cost, modest at $350 million, would be paid for by BP. The government has also failed to made a decision on dispersants, and then it reversed that decision. Obama didn't make any appearance for days and has only been there twice--most recently he wore a pressed shirt and slacks (as if he were going golfing or to a cocktail party) for a photo op to reach down and find some oil. They bussed in 400 people to "work" on the shoreline, but those people disappeared soon after Obama did (as they weren't really workers). This president has simply failed--and, if anyone besides BP should be in charge, it should be Bobby Jindal.

The rap on this president before the election was that he didn't have any experience, that he had never run anything. Now we can see from the way he has kicked around the decision on where to try KSM, or what to do with Gitmo, how he handled (or didn't) the Rep. Joe Sestak mess, his mistakes in dealing with Karsai in Afghanistan and his failure to negotiate with Iran, that we are paying for his inexperience big time. Keep him away from the gulf and let BP and Bobby Jindal do it.

Is it noted that Haliburton was involved with the initial disaster that started this whole mess? Dick Cheaney's Haliburton. This whole thing has 'stunk' from the start.

Did the Executive Branch include having God-like powers to fix everything under the sun immediately, as whatever calamity happens to occur??

If an entire team at BP can't fix their mess, how on Earth is a policy wonk going to do their engineering work for them?

Find a better argument if not liking the POTUS, but not this one.

'Tis lame beyond belief.

This is going to doom Obama'S reputation? How do you figure that???

What could anyone have done?

This is 100% the fault of Republican policies - deregulation and not giving a hoot about the environment.

I was a Republican up until Stupid Sarah said "drill baby drill". That bone chilling callousness made me sick to my stomach and now look what that philosophy and attitude have unleashed on the world.

The Republican party really has become the party of stupid.
