How come the dems in congress went after wilson for exerciseing
his freedom of speech , BUT turned a blind eye with congressman
Rangal of NY, about his income tax ivasion charges?
Rangal committed a federal offense, wilson did not.
Leaders suppose to lead by example, if that is the case then i should not have to pay any taxes,?!

The democrats in the south kame up with the kkk
The northern states were free.
Lincoln, the first republican president, freed the slaves, went to war to do it, with 1000s of white casualties.
The bill of rights in 1964 which the democratic congress oppossed and fillybustered its passing, it took a republican congressman from Illinois to break the fillybuster and make it law.
Bush gave $$ to the people
Obama gave $$ to the big companies and unions that supported him .
People read your history, we r going the way of the Roman Empire, British Empire, and all the great nations before us.
The rason y the Roman empire fell is:
Incompetent and corrupt politicians, and people did not speak up to defend what they had.
Sounds familiar???

Freedom of speech is limited,we might offend someone.
Freedom of religion is curtailed we might offend someone, even though 77% of the people in the US are calling themselves Christians.

They r saying that the illigals will not get health coverage?
Now we have people(anyone) with no insurance can get some kind of coverage, and can not be denied at a public hospital.
What BHO is not telling us is ,next year there will be a bill in congress to give amnesty to 15m+ illigals, when that passes, they will be added on to the system.
Great country America is..

When the president , any president , lies to the American people
and Congress goes along with him, then the peoples representatives also lie, it is up to the elected officials to stand up for their people, and if having to out burst "U Lie" then Mr.Wilson did his job.
We need more Mr.Wilsons.

Respect is earned not automatically given, no matter what the position, or title.
We as Americans DO have the right to question Athority.
Georgeof FL12:03PM October 09, 2009
The idea that the office of the president must be respected is un-american. He's not a king or a god. If we disagree with him it is our duty as citizens to criticize him, and even make fun of and belittle him. He is a public servant, not a ruler, and when he's out of line the people have a duty to say so. The power is supposed to be with the people, not a dictator in a plastic bubble.

I think that overall, the major problem is not the fact that people are speaking their minds, but the problem lies in the fact that this is actually becoming "controversial." I find it quite odd that about 10 years ago, when I discussed some of the downfalls of America, people would tell me that we (unlike other countries) had true freedom, and we should be respectful of that freedom. I was told several times, that it was our right to be able to criticize the president, that many other countries did not have such freedoms that we take for granted... which brings me to your article. I am quite appalled at that the American people, and even those who are working the system from chairs of representation, actually found something wrong with Rep. Joe Wilson's statement. Even worse, I find it completely ridiculous that people are lending credibility to Former Pres. Jimmy Carter, who is not only removed from what is going on with congress, in quite a lot of ways. It is Rep. Joe Wilson's job to criticize the president and the bills that he attempts to pass (we are still a democracy last time I checked) due to the whole checks and balances system that is supposed to be in place, and a previous presidents opinion should only be voiced via local news who have nothing better to run or alongside entertainment pieces. When someone openly says something opposite of what they are wanting you to sign, yes, that person can be deemed a liar. Society is not getting worse when our politicians finally begin to question openly our president, it is their job. Society is always changing, but different is not worse. Rappers are not openly killing themselves or putting out legitimate hits on people, and Serena does not compare to McEnroe, and I dare you to argue gender roles. THe real issue I believe is the media and peoples inability to evaluate for themselves reality, the only reason I see this as a major underlying problem is because I tend to do this myself. I tend to believe that people who can write, are writing with credibility, and not some slant to get more attention with eye catching words and big ambiguously controversial headlines. P.S. When you are reflecting about how things are becoming, it is called becoming out of touch with the new. You should then only be allowed to write in the public eye in the forms of Fiction and any Opinion Sections, congratulations, you have just achieved the status of other old people out of the public eye who have nothing more to offer society than controversial opinions to try and gain some attention.

"I do agree that Joe Wilson was out of line. I respect the office of the Presidency"
To the point of allowing him to bold-faced lie and not saying "you lie"? I'm sorry (actually I'm not), but if he's up there lying, he needs to be called out. How dare him use the office to destroy America.
