Michelle Obama is not only an intelligent woman ,but she has also informed the public of where her concerns are. She has made the public fully aware of her feelings for the spouses of those who serve the military who have given so much more than anyone else. I don't remember the former first lady ever establishing a major platform in all of her eight years. I commend Mrs.Obama for her love and her support for them. She is a fashionable dresser and those who think otherwise can only compare it with their own ideals of what they think fashion is. Mrs. Obama is fit and trim and anything that she chooses to wear is flattering for her. She has her own agenda and doesn't have to follow her husband's. She has surpassed all standards for foreign dignitaries and everyone knows that. Being a First lady, everyone is so quick to be judgemental of everything that she does. Either she doesn't talk right or dress right. But who are we to say what is right or wrong? We only attempt to want to correct things that the media portrays as wrong. Would we even know half of things the media talks about if we didn't read it? Of course we wouldn't! Ask Sarah Palin! I think that we are quick to judge when we don't even know all of the facts. I know that I am a fashionable person and whether it is fashion to someone else really doesn't matter at all that much to me. We are all different and to want Mrs. Obama to follow the suit of prior First ladies is ridiculous. As we can see, she is different, she is a lot nicer. She makes her own statement and she does it well. She is the prime example of what a First Lady is suppose to be, including making her children her first priority. I salute the Obamas and could only wish them happiness while he attempts to clean up a mess that was there before he got there. You go girl!

Ms. Obama has not yet accepted her Position as First Lady. Her in pursuit of self image has gotten in the way of exactly who she is. She is the First Lady and as so is a representative of her husband, The President and her country, The United States of America. Voters who elected her husband to this office deserve a First Lady that looks, speaks and acts with the dignity that comes with the honor of having this position. She needs to immediately do major damage control. She must establish her platform, what are her goals as First Lady, etc. She also needs to realize that there are customs, traditions and protocol that visiting dignitaries not only expect but deserve as guests of our country. She needs to deal with her fashion issue and get it out of the way. She clearly needs a stylist who can dress her as young, upbeat, hip but with class. Not based on race, creed or color-she is the First Lady and while putting her own "stamp" on the position should treat it with respect, honor, dignity, laughter and first and foremost should make each person, visitor, president, king, shiek feel at home and most welcome in Our White House. The picture of the First Lady exiting Air Force One while on vacation in shorts, should realize that even on vacation she is still in the public and international focus. Classic khaki shorts, crisp linen blouse, chic belt, earrings, a large bangle bracelet paired with comfortable but fashionalbe sandals/walking shoes would have been more appropriate. Not matronly, just young and fresh.

I believe she is a contradiction. Has she established a major platform. What are her main concerns for our country? When and why she will travel abroad. She is her own person; but, what is that? She really needs to make a statement and reform her image both her major concerns for our country and the way she dresses as the Wife of the President of the United States of America. Yes, it comes with the job. You are our First Lady and should dress the part, your appearance is an extension of who you are and how you feel about being First Lady. So far, to me, you have not accepted the role. Although, you are your own person, etc. there are certain standards and protocol to be extended to foreign dignitaries. They deserve the best American treatment and may not understand your pursuit of self. In reference to the "shorts" on our First Lady as she exited Air Force One; they were a faux pas. She could have been cool in a pair of neat khaki pants, paired with a crisp linen shirt, comfortable walking shoes or newer looking sandles. Add a wide belt, some large hoop earrings, a large bangle bracelet and it only takes two minutes to look the part and be comfortable, too. A large sun hat with matching scarf would have been acceptable, not matronly, but forget jcrew and make use of the American designers. You can still have a young, upbeat image with a touch of class. Our First Lady is in desperate need of a stylist. Imagine Jackqueline Kennedy, Barbara and Laura Bush, Roslyn Carter, even Hilary Rodham Clinton in shorts like that. Classic, tailored shorts would have looked much better; but, it is a choice she has to make and the sooner the better. Our country and those who voted her husband into the most honored position on this earth, President of The United States of America deserve a First Lady--nothing to do with race, creed or class--it is a position not to be taken lightly. So please help yourself, get a stylist, quit wasting our time and get about the business of your job.

I don't feel that she represents the majority of what the women in the United States are concerned about. As the first lady she needs to find someone to help her with her wardrobe. She certainly does not show an interest in her appearance as a representative of our country. She definitely needs assistance in the correct protocol when addressing dignitaries from other countries and their protocol.
