Obama Takes Aim at Offshore Tax Havens

In the past 20 years we have had more of our constitutional rights stripped for the cause of justice and freedom, then any laws actually beneficial to the people over the last 100 years.I can remember the last law passed, that we actually needed. 800 more IRS agents? Is that a joke? That is like saying we are going to hire more cops for the war on drugs and then all the cops do is ride around giving tickets and arresting non violent offenders. For all we know the new IRS agents wont even be working to enforce this new law, just like the clean air act. This administration is proving to be just as big a joke as the last one. This is the western back ass way of thinking. band-aid the problem instead of cure the cause. Lets look at it like this. The Bilderberg group international affiliates will have free reign on American economy once the large American conglomerates are out of the picture. This is just an other way of the protecting the big banking cartel and their invested interest. So far Obama has done nothing for the people and only protected the interest that invested in his campaign. What can we do about these lying politicians? It is a nonstop arsenal of constant attack on the rights of the American Citizen. If The government needs more money then they need to do away with the central banking system and print interest free money. Then take the Federal Income taxes that are all ready being paid to pay off the interest on monies loaned by the federal reserve. Or, we could audit the defense department and find out where that 1.5 trillion in spending is actually going. Either way I don't think any bold action will be coming from politicians anytime soon. Specially since what happen the the last president who was actually going to help the people.(JFK)

I do tend to feel that taxes paid overseas should be taken into account here; otherwise it's about time we treated everybody equally and we all gratefully pay our taxes honestly. That would fix many problems........and soothe the masses.

The first Ishraq (Splendour)

When the Daystar of Wisdom rose above the horizon of God's Holy Dispensation it voiced this all-glorious utterance: They that are possessed of wealth and invested with authority and power must show the profoundest regard for religion. In truth, religion is a radiant light and an impregnable stronghold for the protection and welfare of the peoples of the world, for the fear of God impelleth man to hold fast to that which is good, and shun all evil. Should the lamp of religion be obscured, chaos and confusion will ensue, and the lights of fairness and justice, of tranquillity and peace cease to shine. Unto this will bear witness every man of true understanding.

Now it is over corporation taxes. Still never addresses Washingtons out of control spending and never leaving within their means like the rest of us...

I keep reading the blogs and sites. I am still waiting to find real Americans out there that actually care more about their country then left, right, liberal, conservative, Democrat, Republican, white, black or anything else that is opposite. Seems everyone is trying to push their agenda or views. We are suppose to be Americans. The rest of the world wants what America has. We are and have been the greatest country that ever was. We have the largest oil reserves in the world but won’t drill them. We are the largest aid provider to the rest of the world. We are the protector of freedom and every other nation looks to us to keep the peace. We are Americans and need to start being Americans. We are so busy putting labels on ourselves and arguing over BS that we won’t address the real problem of our politicians being power hungry and caring more about their power and pockets then they do about America and its people. Both parities are to blame for the present economic situation we are in. They do not want to budget the money they get like most of us do every week when we see our paychecks. If they need more money they will not consider cuts but will find another way to tax you. Take a real hard look at what you pay in taxes. Federal, State, Local, Sales and numerous others. A speeding ticket is $25 but the extra fees ( taxes ) are $200. Gas is taxed by state and federal. Cigarettes are taxed state, federal and then again with a sales tax. ( Triple Tax ). Most of our taxes are state and federal which is a double tax. Start keeping track of all the fees ( taxes ) you pay in a year. Phone, electric, gas, cable, satellite and many other bills all have taxes added to them. You will find in a year just how much you really have to work to pay for our out of control country. Politicians got a raise this year. They voted for it. When was the last time you voted yourself a raise? Bush and the Republicans put us into a financial mess. Obama and the Democrats are doing the same. They are not any different other then a name. Washington is out of control and you and I and our children are going to pay for it. Everyone talks about health care. But don’t you think Washington should fix the mess social security is in (after they raped the fund and spent the money on their pork projects) before they try to run our health care. We all know what big government does with its programs. Over spending, mismanagement and excessive bureaucracy. All the while costing us more of our money. Cap and trade is another one. Do you really think that the corporation are not going to pass the cost (tax) on to you? Wait till you see your utilities go up. In the long run it is always the American people who pay but we are just to busy arguing instead of taking our country back from these so called representatives of the people. My fellow Americans. This is not the country our forefathers fought and died for. They started a government for the people by the people, .not a government for the elite by the elite or for the politician by the politician. Washington and the states are accountable to us and unless you stop bickering among yourselves an decide you have had enough of Washington and the states taxes and carefree spending then you will eventually become a slave to a master that demand all you have and then some. We have to live within our means and have to make hard decisions with our money every week but yet our governments are above having to do the same. Are you for hope and change? Well it will not come from one man. It will only come from Americans united for a cause just like in 1776. That document did not have one signature on it. It took a room full of men to want a change in their lives. So do you just want to blog about and argue about Democrats, Republicans, left, right or anything else that is just wasted words or do you want to start talking about taking a country, that rightfully belong to you, back . You gave the elite the power to control and tax us. You do have the power to remove it. Stand up America we deserve better then what we are getting

Eliminating the tax breaks for corporations only does one thing.

The corporation just increase their costs of doing business and pass it on to the consumer. So much for a level playing field. We now have less and coporation still make their profits. Way to go Washington. You are always looking out for the working class.

"What needs to happen

I think that the government should have Housing programs, and health care and Welfare, but I think it should only be given to people who actually have contribuited to the system. If you paid taxes for years, you should be able to get unemployment if you are laid off.

But if you have not worked or arent working you should not be allowed governmewnt assistance. And if your reason for not working is because you have small children, they should require some type of military enllistment for parents to receive aid"

I agree 100%!! My mother worked full-time at night as a bartender and raised 5 children by herself w/ no welfare and no child-support! Dont tell me you cant work b/c you have small children. Other women have done so but I guess its easier to get welfare year after year!

I have worked since I was 18 and paid my taxes. At 41, I'm returning to school to get my degree to be a RN but finding it impossible to get any type of grant or anything b/c Financial Aid application only considers your income (mine and my husbands combined) after only Federal tax is withheld...it doesnt take into account any other withholdings nor does it consider mortgage or any other expenses. I'n trying to work and go to school at the same time and contributing to society but cannot get any help. Now if I was unemployed, then I could get all types of help! How fair is that??

TE of VA wrote "Healthcare... we have one of the top healthcare systems in the world. We develope and test new health systems, new drugs, etc."

Are you kidding me??!? Do you know how long it takes to get a new drug approved and the hell and politics the doctors that invent the drugs go through to get them approved??? The doctor that invented the breast cancer drug that saved millions of womens' lives went through unbelievable hell trying to get this much needed drug approved....meanwhile lots and lots of women died from this horrible disease!

What about the POOR health care that our 9/11 workers and volunteers are receiving? You need to educate yourself about the ppl that paid their premiums, that pay their fair share of taxes but still couldnt get adequate healthcare! Then they are no longer able to work due to putting their lives selflessly on the lines and the quality of healthcare goes down. And if they need meds? Well maybe they can get them IF they can afford the exhorbiant prices the pharmacetical companies charge! Do you realize that the SAME drug we pay $120 here in America is only a few CENTS in Cuba and other countries?? Do you realize that the terrorists and the other hardened criminals that are housed in Guanatomo Bay prison get better healthcare than many Americans? Those prisoners get routine dental cleanings, preventative treatments for their diabetes, etc?? There is something seriously wrong when the worst criminals in the world are taken care of better than most Americans!

And to the uneducated that say there is 3-6 month wait for procedures in the UK: thats simply not true as I have a friend that lives there. The only time theres a wait for a procedure is when the procedure is ELECTIVE!

Instead of just listening to the brainwashing that has been told to us by Congressmen that have their pockets lined by Pharmacetical companies and the Insurance companies, actually do some research on your own instead of blindly believing these ppl who have a vested interest in not having Universal Health care! By the way, I have a job and have health insurance.

Our country was founded by ppl who wanted to get away from the evil dictators. They wanted freedom and helped out their fellow man. Now its gotten to where this country is run by GREED and ppl are only looking out for theirselves instead of trying to help those that are less fortunate! The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Also, I'm sick of certain groups that tout they dont want the government involved in their lives but they are the same ppl that want the government to abolish abortion (women should have the freedom to do what they choose w/ their body, no government involvement), they want to make sure certain ppl dont have the same rights to marry (gay ppl should have the same marriage rights as straights, no government involvement)

EVERYONE NEEDS TO WATCH THE DOCUMENTARY "SICKO"

Terri of MS 7:53PM May 13, 2009

As far as health care is concerned, visit the UK and see the wait times for a simple procedure are 3-6 months... is this what we want? Do we want to make our health care system more European? I think not!!

Also if we do not allow our companies to be competitive in the global marketplace by hiding funds from the IRS and off shoring them, then our companies will simply cease to exist and we will see global powers like China and India surpass our industry in as little as 20 years... so go ahead and do to our existing industry what the government has done to our manufacturing, agricultural and financial sectors. In another 50 years or so, America will become irrelevant in world business. This is what liberals want due to their doctrine being that this country and capitalism is inherently evil...

As I sit here and read the responses to this article, I can't help myself from feeling sorry for all the folks who oppose this plan and the years of mis-information that you all have gotton from your varied sources.

I think that you admire the Corporations and Rich that have the means to hide their vast incomes from the government and that you only wish that you had the means of not paying your fair share.

They are only being Taxed on their PROFITS and not the full price of doing business.

What seems logical to me, is that for every $1 Mil in taxes that the Rich put into the system, then 1000 of us can pay $1000 less. I'm sure that someone will have something witty to come up with to refute that logic, but it is only my opinion.

How do you think the roads that Millions drive upon get funded and all of the other benefits that the American public take for granted and services that you expect to have when you need it.

EVERYONE needs to put in their fair share for the greater good. I, for one, would like for the US to go to a Flat Tax which would hopfully elliminate the Loop-Holes that only the Wealthy seem to be privy too.

I do agree with JC, that it should be a requirement of having contributed to the system before you can draw from it. That only makes sense to me.

Just my two cents.

This is another ruse to rally the masses that want handouts against evil rich guys and business. The prez is so good at handing out candy but what he's really good at is getting everybody to think someone else will eventually have to eat the spinich. Rich turns out to be someone who makes more than whoever he is talking to. Handouts beget the need for more handouts cause it's easier to receive than earn. Closeing loopholes? Sure. But doing it at the detriment of business being successful is counter productive. At least for people that want to work. There are 8M people in NYC. 40,000 of them pay 50% of all taxes collected. People who earn it aren't getting off as easy as Spender In Chief lets on.
