well if there were not so many restraints as to what they are able to do (such as officially attending school) they would be able to find jobs legally. Don't you think that they would love to get back taxes annually just like everyone else and love to work more than the minimum wage instead of having to work upto 14 hrs a day just to get sufficient money to survive? Obviously there are political issues oppressing immigrants so the issue of illegal immigrants not paying taxes is not as if it were their choice.

"Hello. I AM EAGER TO KNOW ABT AMNESTY. FOR THE MILLIONS OF ILLEGALE WORKERS IN THE UNITED STATES WHO WORK EVERY DAY BUT DO NOT PAY TAXES OR HAVE THEIR OWN SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. I THINK THE GOVERNMENT IS LOSSING BILLIONS OF TAX MONEY EVERY YEAR THAT WOULD HAVE HELP OUR ECONOMY."
Under Obamas plan if we gave all these people amnesty they wouldnt be paying taxes. No illegal is upper or even middle class. They would be lower class, getting free health care and foodstamps. Take a look at Cali... If you want a free ride, jump the border there and suck off the preverbial teet of the United States.

Our New President inherited a cancer in the USA economy which needed a chemotherapy to stop the cancer cells from spreading. Let's give him the red-blood cell stimulus to stop the cancer cell to go worse or the country will die. Republicans who are earning salaries should help President Obama in saving AMERICA for ourselves and our children NOW NOT LATER. We got a strong President who is sincere to help the ordinary Americans which where I belong and my son too.

All our problems begin with President Reagan and his emphasis on cutting taxes, deregulating and subtle effort to break the unions. It is no coincidence that the decline in workers wages and prosperity began with the decline in union members. Corporate America and the manufacturers complained about union wages, regulations holding them back so they could not compete in global markets. Well, thanks to the Republicans we deregulated but did not keep some kind of oversight and what do we have? Thanks to the greedy, amoral Republicans and the gutless Democrats we have a financial crisis that is killing Main Street America. It's amazing that Corporate America and Wall Street had no problem with the multi-million dollar compensation packages and bonuses that they received and would not even consider that is what kept them from competing--excessive managemant pay. For the past twenty years, CEOs and execs have been paying themselves 340-400 percent more than their workers. At the peak of the Bush boom in 2007, the typical American worker was earing barely more after inflation than the typical worker made in 2000! We are in this mess because we have greedy Republicans and gutless Democrats who have been in office for WAY TOO long. We need to get rid of all the old timers and don't kid ourselves with that we need "experience" stuff. The only experience they have is they learned how to "game the system" but now are biding their time to retire with a bloated benefit package they did not pay for but have at the taxpayers expense. They will retire with $200,000 per year while the taxpayer will have to settle for Social Security and what we manage to save out of our meager wages, since our 401ks went out the door thanks to Wall Street and Washington. As workers, we must keep in mind that weak unions mean an under-paid, under-served and unprotected Middle-class America.

The GOP may want to blame the Democrats and Obama for this crisis but we all know what really went down. Bush/Cheney and the Republican Congress brought down this government with the help of the gutless Democrats. I remember John McCann bragging about his almost 30 years of service and experience in Washington. What was he doing all those years? He mocked Obama for not having experience and for his lack of years in Washington so that means all those who were there DO share the blame for this financial mess--don't they. President Obama has been in office all of two months! but Bush was in office EIGHT years, and the Republicans had total congrol for six years. So who is to blame? We are still looking at the mess left in Katrina and now the mess the GOP left us with millions no jobs, no health care, millions losing their homes, millions (I am one of them) who lost almost 50% of their 401K, lost savings and I could go on and on. No the GOP, and McCann have no face to talk or to blame. Just get on with the job of cleaning up this mess. I don't know whether to laugh or cry seeing the GOP cut it's nose to spite it's face.

Neither big government nor free market forces should be in complete control. Johnson's big government led to lackadaisical, cold-hearted government workers "just doing their jobs" and huge red tape problems a la "Rube Goldberg" agencies. Allowing "free market" forces too much leeway without oversight led to inept managers and executives, the majority of whom either did little effective work or ran their companies into the ground trying to force growth by brute force. A balance MUST be found, or a less severe pendulum of Democratic big government and Republican free market promotion put into effect. Perhaps forcing 8 or 16 year governments of each party.
While I support Obama's efforts to "steer the economy in specific directions" and rein in incompetent "free market" forces, there should be a plan to roll back the overbearing red tape and government interference at some set point in the future. Perhaps set review in 5 years and auto-roll back in 10 years unless overwhelmingly pushed back another 5 - 10 years. This would prevent the stifling effect of lackadaisical government workers stymieing growth once we've overcome the current meltdown. Healthcare MUST be reigned in. So to energy and our decaying infrastructure of roads and bridges. But once done, loosen up a little to encourage free market competition and growth.
We need Obama's type for now, but not the pork-slingers in both parties who are glomming onto to his coattails to promote their own short-sighted agendas.

We can already see how effective and efficient our government leaders can be. First the Treasury Secretary, Tim Geithner, had a chance (when he was asked by then Sec. Paulson to handle the AIG bailout) to stop the AIG bonuses and didn't. Then we see where he could have stopped them after he was named Treasury Secretary. Then we see where Sen. Dodd (D-CT), who serves the state where AIG is located, decided to write an exclusion to PERMIT the bonuses in the "stimulus" bill (so he, too, knew about them), but then Sen. Dodd denied having ever written this exclusion. When it came to light that the exclusion for these bonuses was known as "The Dodd Amendment," he then remembered that he did write it. Next we have the President who says these bonuses are obscene, or some similar thing, and helps to stir up the populace (as it turns out, as least 4 AIG executives have resigned because of death threats), but then last night on Jay Leno (which, apparently, is the place for news now), we learn that he is cool on the rushed legislation now coursing through Congress that would put a confiscatory tax these AIG bonuses at 90% (a course that may even be un-Constitutional).
Now all the kerfuffle here is about AIG bonuses, worth only about 0.097% of the total AIG bailout of $170 Billion--and the government can't get that right. And this is all in the matter of a few weeks. I just can't wait for more layers of government...

Bush and his administration cut the staff and appointed party hacks (like "Brownie")and cut regulation of business ("get the government off your back"). You see the result: New Orleans still a mess and this financial crisis.
