American housing is so bogged down in lack of privacy from one home owner to the next that investing in property is all up to big game when I think the Department of housing should be enforcing regulations against housing segregation that resembles share cropping and to me a home buyer that is all backwards.

Reading US News is like reading answers.yahoo.com. Just conclusions and no analysis, and the conclusions are usually wrong. S.D. is no more responsible for the foreclosure rate than he is the weather. This "article" says nothing about what HUD has done to expand housing choice (read: Westchester Fair Housing Settlement). Hardly corrupt, HUDs handling of the Westchester Fair Housing, and its attempt to clarify, and unlike previous administrations, enforce its regulations in the CFR, are preventing wealthy communities from wasting HUD funds in a way that many feel perpetuate housing segregation. If Donovan is among the worst in Obama's administration, then Obama's is already more proactive than anything we've had in the previous 16 years.

I believe that all of the agencies (FHA-VA-FREDDIE-FANNIE and all federaly insured loans) when a property is foreclosed on then put back on the market for sale, that for the first ten (10) days they have been offered for sale, the only people that can purchase them should be an owner occupent NOT INVESTORS.

I am a small landlord in Staten island NY owner of a small rooming house........renovated the building 3 years ago tenants have destroyed the building to such extent that i have 80% vacancy........the only 2 tenants which are left are destroying the building further and than call HPD i am trying to ask them to leave/eviction etc and all i get is more HPD violations.......i am in desperate need to speak to someone who has the authority to be objective or my building will get foreclosed and go into bankruptcy............i hope that someone of substance will contact me my name is Marcel Ortner my Tel number is 917 744 1843 thank you

Donovan's inane comment in regard to the $275 bailout that, "What we're doing is we're benefiting everybody" is offensive. It ignores the 32 percent of the American public in rental housing. How artifically raising home prices through government intervention, and exacerbating an already-problematic issue of housing unaffordability "benefits everybody" is beyond me.

I hope he will take a long look at the HUD practices in the past that have helped give HUD their deserved reputation for corruption and mismanagement. There needs to be a study of current HUD questionable, if not illegal "enforcement" practices. If he takes the advice of Mr. Kemp and Mr. Cisneros on reforming enfocement, please keep that from those that have abused it, and used it for lining their own pockets. Also, there needs to be regulation of those that HUD gives our taxpayer dollars to that have abused the public trust, like ACORN and other HUD financed agencies.
We hope that Shaun Donovan is one that will direct HUD ethically and lawfully.
