LP was a leading architect of the US Army's Intelligence school at Fort Ord. He has intelligence experience at a very basic level. One ought to check out the man's experience, the man's bio before before casting some kind of description that must be one strongly biased as m,anifest by an uninforemd 'opinion'.
One criticism that LP changed political party affiliation because he saw himself more a Democrat than Republican. Some people are politically oriented fom early familial experience - one picks a party early on with no more understanding of the political nuances of the chosen party. For instance, this writer has been a loyal Republican even in the storms that rage through the party from tiem to time, but joining the Democartic Party as a political haven was an unacceptable alternative - comparing relative HoHowses of the two parties , the Dems seemed much, much sleazier- hence, no where for a poor boy to go!
Check out LP's education and expierence on the Internet - this is not, as they say on the street, Leon Panetta's first rodeo.

I am so scared for my country when I see the true stupidity of this "golden boy" President. Panetta is one of the worst choices for such a delicate, secrative and trustworthy position.
Panetta has switched parties, ideas and loyalty just to get ahead. The office of the Director of the CIA should be held by a person of higher standards who will put the country first and their long term plans last. They should also have a very experienced CV in the area of inteligence and most of all they should be a person who could be looked to and believed in when tough questions are asked or actions are needed to be taken.

That he served the Lindsay administration in NYC speaks volumes about him. NYC during the Lindsay years virtually collapsed into anarchy. He seems to be locked in the mindset that the Federal government can actually do a better job than private industry. Other than national defense and law enforcement, the Federal government should not even be involved. Unfortunately, our Federal government is now a massive work-fare program, with millions of unnecessary workers.

All you have to do is Google or Wikipedia. I lived in the Monterey Bay area had Mr. Panetta as my congressman untill redistricting. There is so much more to recommend the man than this simple resume that tells nothing. Monterey would be a perfect setting for a James Bond movie. I surmise he has connections everywhere.
