I gotta be forthcoming here, and say that, policies notwithstanding, two names I am absolutely sick of hearing are Bush and Clinton; geezzzuuusss! These people have been living off of the American Public for over half their lives! Isn't it time to give someone else a turn at the tax payer dollar trough?

I will say this: You can bet a good lot, that the Clintons lobbied heavily for this appointment. Bill hasn't gotten over his Somalia failures and you can also bet on a missile strike against the Somali Pirates in about the Mid -February to Mid-March 09 time frame. Quick; someone hand me the Bromoseltzer!

Did US News sleep through the entire Clinton administration? My fellow commentors have cited the sorry record of that sorry Administration. In the article, US News points out that Hillary has pushed for some support of the military since she has been in the Senate - but all of the problems that she addressed in the Senate could have been addressed while she was in the White House, and they were not. The Clinton Administration created the problems that you try to give her credit for bringing up. Wake up. We can only hope that she doesn't try to use us the incompetent ways Madeline Albright did.

I worked at the Pentagon the whole Clinton administration and she was the most hated person I saw in 20 years of Military service. The Clintons did not like the US military and showed it at every turn. I have no idea why you would think she is a supporter of the military show me her record and some true photos of her with military support during their time in the White House. Lets see how many new stories she comes out with about her being fired upon...

I can't believe anyone with any view of the last 18 yr. could think of Hillary as supportive of our military. Take off your rose colored glasses and smell the real world. Just about every action she and Bill took concerning the military during their two terms were not favorable to a strong military.

Hello.....At what point are we to believe that either of the Clintons have close ties to the military? The news media really reminds me of the old Nazi catch-phrase "Tell a lie, repeat it often, the people will believe it". I cannot believe the media in this country have become like a state-run, one sided agency that serves BO without question (and he's not even in charge yet).

The Clinton cabinet had no person in any leadership position with any military experience, and constantly showed their disdain for us. Hillary is no more qualified to be in a Foreign Policy position than Monica Lewinski. (If having sex with the commander in chief is a qualification).

I served in the Army during all 8 years of the Clintons and I knew a total of one person that supported their policies. I was in Korea on the DMZ, within artillery range of the North Koreans and we sat there from May-Sept without funding waiting on a new fiscal year so we could start our Howitzers again. We did not have fuel or parts, and we hoped that having "US ARMY" on our uniforms was enough to prevent an attack from the north.

Now you want me to swallow this story that the military can be comforted by her selection. Get Real.

To contradict what the previous posters say-- I wouldn't say that she is either particularly pro or anti military- I say she, like her husband was, is the ultimate political "animal" doing whatever will most benefit her politically at any given moment. I would say she has been supportive of the military, and critical of the invasion of Iraq more as a matter of political convenience than of a true stand on an issue. Maybe this political "realism" will serve her well as SoS- I like Condi- but she really produced no tangible results.

I think it is well known about Hillary's distain for the military when Bill was Prez and her grandstanding during the campaign citing being under fire in Kosovo, voting for war in Iraq without even reading the legislation and her disgusting performances during the campaign, the voters rejected Hillary so why should they continue to shove her down our throats??? I think this is Obama's first huge mistake after an excellent campaign. Appointing loser politicians after an election loss is so George Bush!!!
