They may not be much to look at, but the bearded stars of "Duck Dynasty" are drawing eyeballs by the millions to the A&E reality series.
On Wednesday the "Duck Dynasty" finale crushed its cable competition with 9.6 million viewers and closed in on the 12.18 million predicted viewership for "American Idol" and the 9.83 million estimated for the latest "Survivor" series, both longtime network TV megahits.
In the coveted 18 to 49 age demographic "Duck Dynasty" outpaced "American Idol" and "Survivor," with 4.3 million viewers compared to 3.2 million and 2.7 million for the network shows, respectively, according to data collected by Nielsen.
"Duck Dynasty" follows the lives of the Robertsons, a Louisiana family that owns a business catering to duck hunters. Before Wednesday's finale the show's third season averaged 8.2 million viewers. Recent reports indicate the fourth season of "Duck Dynasty" is still in doubt while the business-savvy Robertson brothers negotiate a higher fee for the show.
