In a remarkable performance, 18-year-old murderer T.J. Lane gave his victims' families one last torment Tuesday, appearing in court with a smirk and a t-shirt boasting that he is a "KILLER."
Completely unfazed by an impending life-in-prison sentence, Lane unbuttoned a collared blue dress shirt to reveal his pride in murdering three students in Chardon, Ohio, on February 27, 2012.
Lane extended a middle finger toward victims' families during the sentencing hearing.
"I am in pain every minute of every day. I am so mad. I cry everyday," the mother of murdered 16-year-old Daniel Parmertor told Lane, WOIO reports.
"You don't deserve to be called human," she added. "You are a monster. You are a weak, pathetic, vile coward."
Lane, who confessed to police that he had fired 10 shots using a relative's .22 caliber Ruger handgun, pleaded guilty last month to three counts of aggravated murder and two counts of attempted murder. His attorneys had previously said he suffers from auditory hallucinations and depression.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported last month that when police arrested Lane after the shooting, he was sitting in a ditch wearing a "wet and muddied" shirt with the word "killer" written on it.
"Remorse is lacking," Judge David Fuhry noted Tuesday as he handed down three sentences of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
