I had a car that qualified for the Cash 4 Clunkers program - but I did not buy a new car. At the start of the program, the dealers were offering very nice rebates for the gas misers - and the selection was great. Then, when the program came back a second time, the good rebates were gone - and the car selection was very poor. I also did not want to buy a stiff ecnobox to replace my huge, plushy, comfortable Buick. I have $15K saved for a new car -- and did not want to waste my money buying something I did not want. I wonder how many people rushed out and bought something they didn't want just to take advantage of this program. My C4C rebate would have been $3,500 (minus $750 my cars value) - so I was only really getting $2,750. After they took away rebates of $2,000 -- you were only left with $750 to buy a car you probably wouldn't have bought anyway. I'm glad the program is over and I'm glad I didn't buy something I didn't want. I will just keep saving until I get the money to buy the vehicle I really want.

Of course it was a success - for You. But not for the tax payer or the used car buyer. We have had to help you twice now. Bail-out and now price support (Cash for Clunkers). When will it end. And please, stop this gov't against corporate non-sense. They are in bed together and we are paying for it. We need new representation in Washington - that is all there is to it. And by the way, the unions are in the same bed. No card check, please!

Oh great, better gas mileage. At what cost? All of those cars that STILL RUN are being destroyed and all of the mileage that they would have gotten is gone. To create a new car takes immense amounts of energy and resources. This is a joke. We are destroying what are in many cases perfectly good cars. My car has high mileage and is old, but it still has maybe a few years more of life (probably because it was not made in the U.S.). If the U.S. car industry is so desperate to get people to buy cars that it needs a government program to encourage people to destroy their old cars so will buy new ones, then let the industry die. This program is HURTING the environment and SATURATING the market. Sorry GM, short-term government programs and bail-outs will only carry you so far. MAKE COMPETITIVE CARS!

There should have been some provision in the Cash for Clunker Bill that permits the owner of any old car meeting the requirements to trade in for any type of car that meets the better fuel standard requirement. However our lawmakers missed a key point in that they should have stated that ALL (100%) of any car purchased through this program should have had a US loan attached to offset the freeby tax dollars we taxpayers got stuck with. If the car buyers used foreign loan agencies, then all that interest went off shore and we lose tax dollars.

Well who on earth is going to pay for these cars, the American people thats who. There was no cash generated from sale just a loan now thas dub, what is going to happen to the used car market, some people can not afford a new car, 25% of those cash for clunkers may be repoed who knows I think that it is one of the worst ideas those mutts fro michigan ever came up with that chubby senator debbie was so gleeful about the bill but she doesn't undersatnd it
