I am sick and tired of this same sex mess, It is not intended for two men or two women to marriage. We as human beings are not designed to function that way. DC council and other state officials need to be tared and feather for allowing such behavior, it stinks and will lead all that are a part of it straight to hell in a basket. The congress should vote it out and fix it so that it can never become a part of any bill ever. I am so dishearten with our country for the things we are allowing to take place. It is a shame befor God and if Our

President sign off on a bill like this God will not be please and it will bring a disgrace to our people and our country. When all that are involved make a deicision it should be with good morales and God's will, not what man wants, we have to look ourselves in the face every day as well as face our children, how can you tell a child right from wrong when you don't know or do it yourself. you fellow man instead of Gow will and his word.

Have any states actually voted FOR gay marriage? Or have the ones who currently have it on the books as "legal" done so by virtue of their state legislature or Courts?

I JUST HEARD THAT THE STATE OF MAINE LEGALIZED GAY MARRIAGES, YESTERDAY!!! NOW IF ALL OF THE OTHER STATES WHERE IT'S STILL ILLEGAL WOULD JUST DUMMY-UP!!!

In my opinion this "leave it up to the states" bid isn't working. For too long we have left too many major issues up to the states. This doesn't make any sense. In one state you are married but in the next you're not?

The federal government needs to finally step up and take control of this circus. Now I know that with the current administration same sex marriage would be voted in, in no time flat. But something needs to be done. This is getting just a little bit silly.

Let the supreme court decide on this. That is their job anyway, right? And obviously the people have spoken (California), they don't want same sex marriage. So lets just get over it already. Same sex marriage should not be legal. Period. In every state!

Indeed, gays should be allowed to be as happy, or as unhappy, as the rest of us. With 50% of first marriages ending in divorce it is a wonder that anyone wants to marry.

But the governments, both Fed. & State, and the institutions we rely on make marriage highly desirable. Health care benefits, tax advantages, retirement funds, property rights, probate issues. All hinge on marital status.

Instead of fighting for gay marriage, maybe we should eliminate married privilege. Totally scrap the importance of legally tying 2 people together. Make marriage a ceremonial event, essentially a reception without legal status. Across the board.

All employers who offer family benefits would have to offer them to all employees, no matter how the family is made up. This might change hiring practices to the best qualified, not the cheapest to employ. Anyone who supports another person should have the tax advantage of that support and be able to take deductions for that person. And if two people spend time together in a mutually beneficial relationship, why should it concern anyone who "gets" the house, the car, etc.

I believe everyone should be able to decide for themselves who they want to maary, who cares if they are same sex, it's not my marriage it's theres. Who are we to judge them? to tell them who they can and can't be with?????????? I wish everyone would just get it, then i also hear complaints on my insurance will go up because of Aids, i say bs because i man and woman can get it just as easy as two males or two females

I am glad to hear about the small steps that are finally being made to help legalize gay marriage. Its a wonderful thing to see people coming together on this issue, I am glad to be able to talk to my children about equality really being for everyone not just certain groups. When the day comes, and I know it will, that every state recognizes gay marriage I will celebrate with a happy heart!
