If "border patrol agents have become the best protectors of illegal immigrants" how will be explain that the U.S. just decided to cut back on agents on the southern borders due to the "fence" and will employ them up to the Canadian border instead? Will we be hearing about Mexican rights instead of American rights again?

You see my fellow Americans, "the border isn't really the problem." No not at all. In fact, in Mr.Bersin's and Janet Napolitano's view, THE BORDER ISN'T THERE AT ALL. Just another New World Order shill.

Ceptfer,
You are completely off-base with your assertion tht the answer is amnesty and that attrition through enforcement does not work.
In your comment you state that a primary reason illegal aliens are here in the U.S. is because a viable legal option' is not available to them. You seem to forget (intentionally?) that non-citizens have no legal RIGHT to come here - it's NOT their country. You also cite 'Supply & Demand' as a contributing factor, using the same old tired rhetoric that illegal aliens come here to do the work that U.S. citizens won't do.
Apparently you are not fully cognizant on a basic premise of Supply & Demsnd. People (refering to citizens) will do any type of work, as long as the wage paid is deemed to be a fair and livable one. The fact that employers do not want to pay higher wages to lawfully eligible employees is an artifical deterrent to the correct functioning of Supply & Demand. The true culprits in this are the employers who are using illegal aliens as virtual slaves by paying lower wages - and usually not paying the correct taxes - if at all.
Amnesty does not work, as it lowers the base level of the employment scales and disproportionally affects the tax base and the social services expenditures.
Deportation, whether by attrition or actual enforcement does work - it's just not what you want. Sorry.

"No need to deport"? "Attrition"?
Oh I see that the anti-immigration crowd has a new twist on this issue. Instead of Enforcement Only, which just about everybody agrees will not work, you offer "Enforcement Only" though attrition. Now that's a hoot! They'll just disappear if we enforce the laws? The problem is a little more complex than that, I'm afraid. One, the problem is that "Illegal Immigration" resulted because those people did not have a viable legal option to come here legally. Two,our economy, even in these tough times, is still in need of their labor. Otherwise, the laws of Supply and Demand would see them return to their countries of origin. Three, "Attrition" through the enforcement of the laws on the books is another term for "Enforcement Only". It doesn't work. That's why in the years since IRCA 1986 we had record numbers of "illegal" immigration even after we spent billions of dollars on "Enforcement Only". It's been tried and it has failed miserabley!! Furthermore, dubious groups such as NumbersUsa,don't represent the American people. We've elected officials for that and in the last election THE PEOPLE voted for leaders that support a path to citizenship, AMNESTY.
