Many of our soldiers are coming back facing serious adjustment issues. I am in Hawaii and I am an Army wife. I have seen the suffering and cover up instead of treatment and compassion. There are spouses who, in self-defense, are facing the criminal justice system as we speak. But since we did not go to war... We did: We were the backbone and now the victims of troubled heroes. Who is going to help us. The price to pay is too high. How many young men and women who sign to defend this country are told that his or her personal life will suffer and even the loved one may end up in jail.

Solution: Compassion. Please, reach to military families as well, for to this day very few are. Where are they?

My son was attending a program in Maryland after he got back from Iraq. He had a DUI. He was released from the Army soon after in Oklahoma.. He came back to California where his family was. We were paying the fine but my son was not following all probation requirements. He was diganoised with PTSD and TBI, he currently is following all probation requirements but could not go back to Maryland for court.. We sent letters to the judge from his doctors at the VA in San Diego which stated Jason should not leave his treatment. The court in Maryland issued a bench warrant on my son. This all just happened between Nov 07, date of the DUI till his release from the Army in March 08.

How about looking at this also

Senator Walter Jones “PTSD/TBI Guaranteed Review for Heroes Act.” This legislation, if enacted into law, would create a special review board at the Department of Defense for service members who received less than honorable discharges and whose PTSD/TBI was not taken into consideration during the discharge process.
