The basic law of economics. If these people were accepted and made citizens they would buy houses. Isn't Phoenix the leader in housing slump?

This reporter should be careful about using the Goldwater's report as a credible source on this issue. Its former director is Congressman Jeff Flake who is a notorious and well known supporter of amnesty for illegal aliens.
This report is an attempt to gut immigration enforcement measures that are needed and are supported by the vast majority of citizens. We are tired of immigration lawlessness and the flagrant flouting of our laws -- large and small -- and are pleased that someone like Sheriff Joe has the guts to stand up against the ethnocentric, pro-amnesty crowd and shills like the Goldwater Institute. This is why Arpaio was reelected by such a large margin.

Why doesn't the author of this article quote from "experts" who support what Joe Arpaio is doing?
The fact is most Americans support immigration enforcement, especially in this era of massive job loss.
God Bless you Sheriff Joe and keep up your good work.

This guy shouldn't be investigated, he should be given a medal.
Drive the invaders out once and for all and make the border mean something. The line that Americans won't do the jobs is utterly ridiculous, its a leftist wing nut talking point not reality. we have large numbers of people with low skills who would be quite happy for a job. I worked for a manufacturer a few years ago that cut a number of illegals and what do you know, within a few days actual Americans were working those same jobs.

From what we've read about Joe Arpaio, it seems that an investigation into civil rights abuses is warranted. If he is not abusing constitutional rights, he should be relieved to have his name cleared.
Immigration and the dysfunctional prisons are huge problems in this country.
However, we must be very careful with the slippery slope of not upholding the constitution. Recently, the mayor of my town declared in the local newspaper that he "doesn't care about their civil rights" when referring to gang members. We all want gang members legally removed from the streets. But, if we do not care about one group's rights, what will be the next group that is denied basic civil rights?

If illegals came here from mexico to only make a better life for themselves why are our prisons overrun with them now? why are they the king of drug trafficking? why do they come here & keep having babies over & over and draw welfare? Seems to me they should control their birthing till they have earned the means to support their chldren (without becoming drug traffickers/cayotes) When they come to America why don't they respect all its laws & customs, like learn to speak english, stop making the legal tax payers pay for all the paperwork /applications in your language, how much we could save if we only printed english forms as we use to and bring your own interpreter to court, big saving there too. Its way past time for America to just say no! Close the borders completly down! The media has ignored the devestating problem we are in from Mexico's illegal doing in USA till it started to trickle over into high income white families, well at least someones trying to draw attention to it. Sheriff, you go boy!

I've had it with Obama. We finally have someone (Arpio) who takes the iniative to actually do something about our out of control immigration problems and the Obama administration tries to bash him. Is there anyone out there who believes that illegal immigrants do not hide out in the Latino community. Good grief we have 13 million American families out of work now and an average of 8.1% unemployment. And what does the Obama administration do. They go after the one guy trying to help. Doing the job, no less, that the Obama administration refuses to do. This is a sad sad day in history for American citizens, when illegals have more rights than we do. The illegal immigrants are rampant across the nation.
I'm writing Obama displaying my displeasure. I hope you all will join me.

It is time to turn the tables and investigate the investigators to find out why they are not enforcing the immigration laws. By not rounding up these illegals and sending them out of the country, The Justice Department and other enforcement agencies are breaking the immigration laws. Time to get the real criminals.
Illegals do not have rights in this country because they have broken the law by illegally coming into our country, sneaking into our country and yet they are treated better than the any American citizens. How can we stop them? Maybe it is time enforce citizens arrests. If you know someone is illegal, arrest them, at least we would be doing the job, the Justice Department and other enforcement agencies are afraid to do.
I say we give Sheriff Arpaio a medal for doing his duty and protecting the American citizens.
Since we do have a "National Guard", which is suppose to be protecting the "Nation" let's put them on the border and enforce the laws of this nation.
Time for Washington to stop being whimps!!!!!
