One of the problems with caffeine today is that most people have no idea how much caffeine they consume daily. More and more beverage, food and pharmaceutical products have higher and higher amounts of caffeine as an ingredient --even chewing gum! With caffeine everywhere, it's not that hard to become caffeine-intoxicated. Starbucks coffee has 50 percent more caffeine than home brew and just one 16-ounce cup of Starbucks drip coffee has 330 milligrams of caffeine -- the amount that can cause hallucinations according to the Durham University researchers.

And for a lighter respite on caffeine, read the hilarious "25 ways you know you've had too much coffee" at:
Loss of sleep is a known culprit to cause hallucinations. If these students were up all night drinking coffe for a long period, perhaps their lack of zzz's was causing these reprocussions.

This might be the dumbest thing I've ever seen. My guess is that the students who were a part of this study, may have been taking something in addition to the coffee. To think that a university funded this study could mean an increase in tuitions is really over the top. For the students at this university, keep drinking coffee. You'll need to be awake all night looking for alternate funds for your education.
