lets just pretend for a moment, lets say all of us are just souls with no he/she/color/ and we want to get married

then would it really matter what our sexual disires are?

When i look over grave yards i do not see color or

labels and i do not think we should see these things

when someone wants to get married.it is and should

be because of love and that is really all marriage

should be about...so as for me...i say make marriage

between two people who love each other :-) and leave

all the labeling out of it !!! as for me

my SOUL HAS NO COLOR!!!!

Betty,

You should proof your remarks better before you slam groups in your comments.

It is hard to take you seriously.

Moreover, I don't know anyone who claims to be a "European American."

Defined by race,

John

John Moore of CA 6:07PM December 30, 2008

First of all, the CNN statistics were not correct.(Look it up on Google). Second, the

gay community includes many African Americans. Third, if there is an African American 'group', there is also a European American 'group' so that logically it could be said that European Americans are to blame for the passage of Prop.8.

I'm an African American and I voted against it as did 3 of my relatives who are also considered African Americans.

European Americans have been responsible for laws against marriage between

non-european Americans and European-Americans up until recently even though they were man-woman marriages,

Racist propaganda and homophobic propaganda are generally the responisiblities of European Americans who make up the bulk of citizens in the U:S.

The only reason this discussion exists is because of the racist mentality that is part of U.S. history which continues to promote the stupid idea of 'race', rather than addressing the history of American cultural propaganda, including the

religious biases that are such a part of U.S. culture and the affect they have on everyone. It may also be that being African American and homosexual is doubly

oppressive while being European-American and homosexual makes it a little less

difficult to deal with psychologically, economically and culturally in a country where you are always asked to declare your 'race', but not your sexual tendencies.

So the propaganda against 'gays' may create some rejection by African Americans, but please stop giving in to the easy desire to accept statistics based on stereotypes.

While Religion is a choice and Homesexuality/Lesbian isn't.... relgious voters should not eliminate rights of others.

Therefore Prop 8 should be overturned.

The Intelligent People will see that it is.

Eric of CA 8:12PM December 12, 2008

I think that this vote was more a reaction to the overturning of the previous Proposition by the California courts than to the contents of Prop. 8.

Katie, you are a bigoted, uneducated, paranoid, rude, sorry excuse for a human being.

What makes you an expert on homosexuality? I suspect it's nothing but your cruel heart and your blind devotion to whoever is telling you it's ok to treat gay people as less than yourself.

There is good reason why homosexuality is not against the law as the other things you mention are. And speaking of reason, the vast majority of rapists, child pornographers and molesters are heterosexual males. But then, reason evidently plays no part in the workings of your small, vicious little mind.

I hope you someday know exactly what it feels like to be treated with the cruelty you so glibly dish out to gay people. It's really disgusting, and you should experience it for yourself.

How about you tell us even one single way that equal rights for gay people in any way takes away your rights? It doesn't.

You just can't stand to see gay people have equality because you hate them. Well I feel the same toward you Honey but even so I still would never want you to have less than equal rights in this great country.

I really hope you're not a mother. It would be a shame to know there are innocent children in the world being raised to carry on your hateful, awful, sick, judgmental, bigoted attitudes.

"One's religious views should not impose on the rights of others. You are allowed your beliefs at home, at church and in general practice, but not to the point where it imposes your views on others whom do not agree."

Your LACK of religious views should not impose on the rights of others. You also are allowed you beliefs at home, work & in general practice, but NOT to the point where it imposes your views on others who do not agree.

And thank you Jillian of CA for your comments. Very clearly explained!

Katie of NM 10:50AM December 09, 2008

"Some observers found it ironic that while an African-American was finally winning the presidency, his strongest supporters appeared to be torpedoing the rights of another historically persecuted minority group." Uh, Hello? Sexual deviants are NOT another historically persecuted minority group! If they are, then so are genital mutilators, rapists, and child pornographers & molesters.

"Only 43 percent of all voters between the ages of 18 and 34 supported the ban, while 56 percent of those over 55 did." And this is because those under the age of 35 are those who have been forced to attend the brainwashing indoctrination that is now called public education; where children are taught that if it feels good, it must be good for you so just go out & Just Do It [as the commercial says]; no thought of whether it actually hurts them & their own societies in the long run. These poor kids have actually been dumbed down so that they CAN'T think logically for themselves, have no impulse control...

"While only 43 percent of college graduates voted to ban gay marriage, 69 percent of voters with a high school degree or less voted for the proposition. Nearly 2 in 3 voters making less than $40,000 a year voted for Prop 8, while 55 percent of those making $80,000 or more voted against it." Those with only a high school degree didn't attend the cultural indoctrination now known as higher education where instead of actually teaching college subjects, professors spout their own prejudiced & immoral ideologies. Those making less than $40K / year actually have to work for a living & live where the rubber meets the road; they don't have the time or energy necessary to waste it on stuff that doesn't make any sense & won't work in the long run. And those making $80K/year are those same poor idiots that listened to those same idiotic 'professors' spout their opinions instead of teaching in college.
