LUcy: "He did everything in his power to bring the budget in line, more than anyone else did or would have done."

That's a lie. As soon as Arnold took office, he cut taxes and he borrowed money. He ran up a huge debt and deficit. He is allowed to borrow without approval from the legislature, and he has borrowed so much money that he has ruined our credit rating. He wasn't even born here and he thinks he can wreck the place. I wish we could deport him!!

Arnold is a disaster and he is ruining our state. Sadly, we are at his mercy because Obama will not help us. I will not vote for Obama in 2012.

Arnold would never have won if not for stand-by-your-man-even-if-he's-a-cheating-liar Maria Shriver telling everybody that he would not cut education and healthcare. LIES.

Your outlook is way too simplistic and instead of leveling off some political party platform you really should look at specifics. You can't spend what you don't have, the $10. extra vehicle registration fee doesn't amount to a hill of beans at this point. Sub-prime lending, foreclosures, reduced property tax, state income tax, and sales tax have plunged the state's overall revenue and you simply cannot have all the things you want when there's no money; it doesn't make a whole lot more sense to raise taxes on people who can't afford to keep their houses, lost their jobs, and don't spend extra money on anything. So, raising taxes really only hurts the people you're claiming to want to help. There is no way out of this mess except with pain and suffering and drastic measures for the next couple years. Let's not pretend like Gray Davis would have done any better because he couldn't find his way out of a paper bag. Regardless of political offiliation these knuckleheads in Sac. don't know what they're doing and we are all paying for it. California is now learning the hard way what many Californians are also learning: if you don't have it, you really shouldn't spend it and if you have to borrow it pay it back as soon as you can. EVERYONE has been living high on the hog and it is as much society's fault as it is Sacramento's that we're in this mess. People wanted what they couldn't afford (just like the government) and they ended up losing it; the really negative thing is that their irresponsibility is making us all suffer even those who spend responsibly. Your last sentence pretty much disqualifies you from having any clue what you're talking about and there are not nearly as many jails as their are schools. Why don't you go smoke something to help you think more clearly.

If you want to know what the Republicans are doing in California, read "The Shock Doctrine" by Naomi Klein.

When Arnold took office in the Enron supported recall election, he immediately cut the car tax which put the state into deep debt. Then he made deep cuts in education spending, and healthcare, while giving more money to prisons. Then he borrowed billions, but not enough to eliminate the debt. Imagine if you borrowed money to pay your credit card bill, but didn't pay it. Then you'd be stuck with more debt in addition to your bills. You would never get out from under.

Arnold has done this every year he has been in office. If the legislature objects, the Republicans hold up the budget and Arnold goes on Jay Leno to make his bogus, one-sided case. Then he gets his way.

The point? To wreck the economy so that Republicans can justify cutting everything that makes this a first world country: education, healthcare, roads, retirement pensions, etc

Arnold and his cronies envison a California with a small group of rich people and a bunch of dark peasants working for below the minimum wage. He wants to sell off the LA Coliseum, the Orange County Fairgrounds, and the state parks to his rich friends for a bargain. Can you imagine selling off the beautiful Yosemite to some campaign donor? How corrupt.

Arnold even once tried to pass a bill that would eliminate a lunch break for all employees. Not just a paid lunch break, but any lunch break. When nurses opposed his budget cuts he bragged about "kicking their butts."

That's the kind of animal we have as Governor. He should have never been allowed to immigrate here. I think only native born citizens should hold political office. Arnold has too much of that WWII Austrian connection, if you know what I mean. He's the immigrant who has cost this state the most money.

The media has given him a pass all of these years because of his wife. Now to cover his Azz they're trying to say that California is "ungovernable." BULL. Every other Governor has managed to do it.

Arnold is a failure and a tool. He's unqualified and he needs to resign!

wow..take gym equipment and medication away from prisoners that is the solution...for ignorant people like you. The prison system has far bigger institutional problems that cleaning up pills in the yard and paying for weights and basketballs. How about the disporportionate number of people of color in locked up in prisons compared to whites or the fact that this nation makes a grip of money off of the labor of prisoners or the fact that there will soon be more jails than schools in America..or the fact that stupid people think that it is the families of prisoners ruining towns instead of local and federal officials. YOU ARE WACK judy nicols of VA, you are what is wrong with our situation right now. If the government spent half as much on community programs and pervention instead of the 3 strike law that makes it so easy for 99% of inmates to return to lock up we would be in a better spot. But no you would like to deprive inmates of not only day light and physical excercise but also medcication and adequate living conditions. i bet you would like the Klan to just run the police force again too. Typical.

pissed off of CA 10:12PM April 28, 2009

99% of all prison inmates have been incarcerated before, and will be back again. Where else can they get free room and board, 3 meals a day, medical expense paid for (and you'd be surprised at just what "we" pay for!). The minute a prisoner is walked in the gates, he is give a "Prisoner Bill of Rights" handbook! Trust me when I tell you each prison memorizes that book inside and out, and they'll use it every chance they get. One prison got a broken cookie in his lunch meal..VIOLATION..cookie was replaced. Prisoners who are incarcerated who, on the outside, were undergoing sex change hormone therapy, are provided this...in fact, it's mandated by the law! Want to know what THOSE cost?? $5,000 for each injection, and they get one per day. Crazy? you bet.

Now we have the medications they are given. As soon as they line up for them and get them, they walk away and spit them out. The yard looks like an explosion in an M&M factory! Not only does this add to the expense of cleaning up the drugs from the grounds, but it's a total waste of good medication! Why do the inmates do this? So they can "go outside, even if for a few minutes, when they are on lockdown. They have the system pegged...they know how to cause the Correctional Officers grief with an abundance of paperwork, spitting on them, thowing feces and urine on them...you name it. They are animals with no hope of rehabilitation. Some say we need more prisons to avoid the overcrowding. Personally, I wouln't mind a prison in my town...the problem is not the prison, it's the FAMILIES that move into the area to be "close to their loved ones" and they are just as slimy and bad as the ones in jail...ruining the towns, creating more crime, and frightening the citizens. I say build the prisons far away...offer NO housing for anyone other than the Correctional Officers, and keep the relatives out! Stop the unnecessary medications being doled out..stop the elective procedures...stop the gym equipment (it just makes the inmates stronge and harder to deal with)...and end the endless years of appeals. If they are sentenced to die, then so be it...the next morning at dawn! It's the lawyers who make money in this game and the taxpayers who are paying for it. It's time to end this fiasco...send the do-gooders in for a week to deal with these animals and see if they come back out with the same ideas and "compassion" for these people.

It is simply amazing the inhumanity of people like you who have no idea how people get homeless or disabled. I WORKED all my life as a teacher, and then got disabled with no fault of my own. I became homeless, and hobbled the streets with the rest of them. I found many people that were homeless due to circumstances beyond their control. Well kept, well dressed people looking for work with their children in tow. Jobs are not easy to find Lucy. In fact many of the people I spoke to HAVE jobs, but how can you possibly pay rent with a minimum wage job? You can't.

You and Republican ignorance of the social problems is exactly why were are in this financial mess. What you will see are all kinds of people, elderly, disabled, and children roaming the streets with no where to go and no means to eat (Oh, and foster care? There is not enough money for that either, so many children are put in these group homes. Lovely. Much better than having their own parent. Lets raise more disparaged people). These homeless will be there with no fault of there own....lay offs, program cuts, lower minimum wage, inflation, foreclosures, ect. As a matter of fact, you may be next. If you want our country, the richest country in the world, to be like Africa...keep supporting people like Arnold who make the rich richer and the poor poorer. Rich people STEAL also...from the middle class and the poor. You don't see them paying higher taxes or being regulated. Don't forget that the reason WHY we are in this mess in California, is because of the energy crisis brought on by illegal means and supported by Arnold. I say supported, because nothing was done about it to get that money back. Instead he stole money from the education system and has yet to pay it back. He also cut teachers and funding. I saw a direct affect from this when I was still teaching. 45 kids to a classroom every hour, 270 kids per day. You have no idea how hard it is to teach that many students and not have them slip through the cracks. Arnold is not promoting a future workforce that can benefit California. He promoted the wealthy and breaks to corporations who, rather than hire people to promote the 'trickle down theory', instead pocketed the money for their own greed. This isn't working and hasn't for the last eight years with Republicans.

Perhaps it would help your anger towards the "poor" if you just killed all of us off. That way you wouldn't have to see us invading your foreclosed neighborhood. You will have to bring a big gun...170,000 jobs were lost last month. And if you are next....well you know where that leads.

Lara from San Diego of CA 12:11PM October 09, 2008

Schwarzenegger is a great leader. He did everything in his power to bring the budget in line, more than anyone else did or would have done.

To all the people whining about the money they are STEALING by means of their government welfare programs... too bad, your time of stealing is up. There is no money left. You stole the lifeblood of the state, you stole and stole and stole and refused to make your own living, insisting others do it for you, and taking the money from their work. You make yourself feel better by your "poor me" tales.

Oh no, you only have $1200 a month to live on? You can't afford the newest toy for the ten fatherless kids you had? You can't afford your crack rock this week because the big bad government is lowering your check? Guess what, screw you and your kids. Stop stealing from hardworking people. You want to live? Go get a job. Otherwise you get to live on the street.

The government can put your kids in foster care. It's better to spend money there than give it to all these ridiculous money stealing deadbeats that live in CA.
