might as well ban alcohol(depressant), tobacco(Stimulant), otc drugs(stimulants/depressants/sedatives), script drugs(stimulants/depressants/sedatives/opiates) and all the others like caffeine(stimulants), nutmeg(psychoactive), diet pills(stimulants), refined whit sugar(stimulant), tea(stimulant/sedative), chocolate(stimulant), ect.
the whole ban on salvia is just ridiculous. the FDA is seemingly saying,
"dont OD on your drugs, OD on our drugs, cuz if at least, we have your money!" -FDA

I can safely say there is not one person out there who is in treatment for salvia addiction and no ones gateway drug was salvia. What about coming into contact with people who are under th influence of prescribed narcotics.I promise you most of them drive.Have you ever heard of pain clinics.By your logic these patients shouldn't be allowed to come in contact with people.I tried salvia once.Bought the container, used it a couple of times.that was over a year ago and I still have more than half left. The container holds 1 gram.

I think keeping this herb legal is absolutely insane, simply because there ARE idiots out there that don't have common sense.
They see nothing wrong with buying and using this and jumping into a car and endangering themselves and others. Yes, it is their body and their life but making this readily available to this kind of person endangers everyone they come in contact with while they are under the influence.

Hey folks, my name is Ben. I'm the guy named in the very beginning of the article. I feel I must comment because most of my comments to Ms. Cornblatt were not printed in the article.
I am in accord with the posters here who believe that the war on drugs is rediculous. Common sense should tell you whether or not to drink bleach. our experiences help us in our descision making process, no? I have an eight year old daughter. I trust that if I arm her with knowlage instead of trying to block her from everything, that she'll survive her dumb years, or maybe skip them altogether (wishful thinking). I survived, and I was raised in a world of ignorance, where everything was hidden, and evil. Reality was a surprise for me, and I didn't have the tools to handle it. However, with lots of experience, and at 32 years old now, I make better descisions. When I used salvia, I did it as I was told, then I tried more. I also thought the expierience was quite uncomfortable. However, I don't think someone needs to tell me not to use it again. I have a fully functional brain. I thought it was very interesting, and it made me have a different perspective. I don't want to use it again for the forseeable future, but if I ever did want to use it again, I'd like to have the ability to do so. Florida illegalized it, so I won't be doing it here I suppose. Wait, what am I saying? I smoke pot pretty often. It keeps me calm, and connected with nature, and in touch with intelligence. Is that illegal in Florida? Oh my, it is!!! How stupid can we get as a society? I've grown do despise the money-ocracy that we call America, and that I used to be so proud of when I was a kid, and had no clue. Capitalism=Money Worship. Our children learn that getting a Bentley, 22 inch rims, and some booty is the most highest form of American achievement. Every giant American corporation contributes to this attitude, along with the politicians, the churches(yes ignorance never helped a thing), judjes, lawyers, law enforcement, and every fat American who's happy with our limited amount of personal freedom, because they can still afford to put a hundred bucks worth of gas in thier giant SUV every week, and keep frozen pizzas in the fridge. Everything about it disgusts me.
I made the comment to Ms. Cornblatt that Salvia Divinorum shouldn't be taken as a joke, nor should it be used irresponsibly, and that these were my opinions. However, she made me out to be the guy saying I should be able to do what I want, whether it hurts me or not. While I do support that, and I did say that, the overall idea I was trying to convey to her was missed, and most of what I told her was left out. I feel that evolution favors those that experience things. Our very intelligence came from natural selection. Natural selection favors intelligence, and evolution favors those who SURVIVE!! Stop fighting nature by illegalizing things! THE WAR ON DRUGS IS A TAX MONEY FUNNELING JOKE! STOP CRIMINALIZING SOCIETY!
