Schwarzenegger Still Opposes Offshore Drilling

What the heck? How did this happen? We voted for change and we went back in time to offshore drilling and nuclear power.

I remember stepping in tar on the beach in Santa Barbara.

Yuck, at the very least.

Arnold is looking reasonable to this lifelong, Berkeley democrat.

I voted for Obama. Maybe not next time.

We drill in OK...you can drill in Califorina offshore. You don't won't offshore drilling...you think you are so special? The tax would make up the difference in the amount you would need. Suck it up.

Solar cell technology is actually cheaper in the long run and only expensive now because not that many people use it. Maybe you should let people from california who live in california decide the fate of california coastal waters. If you don't like that then stay in Iowa! I think the people of California would rather enjoy the beauty and other rich resources our coast line offers us then have to deal with another dead zone the size of New Jersey that is devastating the shores of the gulf coast.

John McCain to support drilling in ANWR, biggest news from Palin/Gipson interview.

Hasta la vista, baby Arnold. Succeed and make the rest of America happy. $8 a watt for solar cell technology today. I guess all the hollywood eco-nutz will have to hold a marathon to raise a Trillion dollars for every legal and non-legal Californian household.

We do not need Arnold's permission to drill in Federal Waters offshore CA. We really do not need to drill in CA state waters if we pass S.2958.

S.2958 is a wide ranging energy plan that includes ANWR, Federal offshore waters, oil shale, CTL and advances in greener energy for tommorow. Why is the press ignoring this important Bill. S.2958 is in the Senate right now and if people knew about they could be helping to push it thru. Why is McCain acting like the Bill does not exist? Obama?

Weird!

Maybe the Gov of Ca. should come up w/plan to supply energy to the state of CA. They don't want power lines from a solar plant going across their pristine area, they don't wont to contribute to the US energy supply, but chances are CA uses as much or more energy than other states. The problem with the energy supply is about all the states and all states including CA should contribute if possible.

The idea that technology advancement would stop oil spills and other catastrophes is ridiculous. Major industrial problems, such as oil spills and major chemical leaks and problems at nuclear plants, are typically caused by human error at every step of the process.

Additionally, more oil drilling isn't going to fix the bottlenecks at the refineries, the oil companies' profitmongering, and it certainly isn't going to fix our crippling dependence on oil. The idea that oil money will be used to invest into alternative energy is also ridiculous - the minute we get gas back down to reasonable prices, all of America will forget ALL about the terrible era of four bucks a gallon and go back to driving gas-guzzling SUVs everywhere, and the next time oil prices spike, possibly because of a REAL shortage, they'll start whining all over again about how oil is necessary to hold us over till alternative energy is viable (just like they are now), but next time it'll be too late and we'll have to deal with horrible gas prices for the years it takes to seriously pursue real alternative energy.

I do not believe any of us wants to see oil spills like 1969. However, that was 40 years ago! 40 years! Technology has improved. Even Katrina did not cause oil spills of rigs in the gulf. Certainly facades of sailing ships could be put on rigs or put them out far enough to not be seen as we can angle drill. This is the solution for the next 20 years. Nuclear Power -providing energy grids for electric cars. This is a long term solution. Solar -long term solution. Scientists say it will be 20 years before we can fully harness Solar power. As new alternative technolgies come on board we can slowly replace oil. But we need this 20 year transition period for research, development, implentation and building of infrastructure. We need it all. The world is not a friendly place and we are setting ourselves up to be defenseless. Americans have always been innovative. Why should that change now? Why not provide opportunity and jobs. Don't throw rocks at people who make more than 55k. Show those who make less how to access opportunity. Education. Job search assistance. Empower people.
