Abraham Lincoln: From Homely to Heroic

Lincoln introduced a bill on Jan 10, 1849 to get rid of slavery in the District of Columbia. If he had been president instead of Polk, Texas would never have been annexed to the Union. There would have been no war with Mexico, no California, no SW, no land from sea to shining sea! It was because of slavery in Texas!

Lincoln and his Republican/Abolitionist Party wanted to abolish slavery and thus divided the nation. Then he started the Civil War which killed 500,000 whites and destroyed the South. AND HE IS PRAISED AS BEST PRESIDENT FOR SAVING THE UNION WHEN HE WAS THE ONE WHO DIVIDED IT! AND YOU DUMB PHOLKS BELIEVE IT.

Slavery is not a sin. God had laws regulating it. Paul told slaves not to care if they are called as slaves. But if they could make THEMSELVES free, they should. The onus is on the slave to free himself, NOT A WAR. I Cor. 7:14.

The North disobeyed God by not returning escaped slaves and sending them to Canada or hiding them in the states. Paul returned an escaped Christian slave to his owner and said he would pay the master reparations. Philemon.

The principle: Israelites were to be the head. Gentiles the tail. We are an Anglo-Saxon, Israelite nation. But we are great sinners so the curse on us is the tail becoming the head and the head becoming the tail. Thus BO.

Some say kidnapping blacks was wrong. Well what about Rome who conquered whole nations and made the peoples slaves. God, thru Paul told those slaves who became Christians not to worry but be happy.

The Lincoln propaganda is in full tilt. But young Americans with internet access just aren't buying it.

Lincoln's war was unnecessary. The South wanted peaceful secession, mainly to unwind the coils of slavery in an orderly manner.

An economic study looked into the cost of Lincoln's war; the 620,000 dead, the maimed, the burned buildings, crops, dead horses and mules, etc.

The result? It would have been cheaper for the Federal Governtment to just by all the slaves at the market price and set them free. The former slaveholders would have had their capital restored. And the freed slaves would have been able to work for real wages.

Instead, Lincoln's war unleashed a cycle of poverty that echoes to this day.

By the way, every nation in the western hemisphere had slavery. And they all ended slavery without war. Except one. Thanks a lot for that one Abe.

President Lincoln was simply a country boy witha country education of self sufficency and homespun values and wisdom. He knew what he could accomplish and when yet cognizant of the politics of a divided nation. His masterful dealings with slavery were finely crafted to achieve success on a level dictated by politics yet an improvement over the status quo. Few politicians have the self-discipline to accept progress in steps as they prefer an all-or-nothing approach. Lincoln knew he could end the war or end slavery but not both so he opted for ending the war and easing an end to slavery. Modern politicians can learn from his guidance such as embracing partial legislation before insisting upon an entire plan of action.

Larry in CA mentions that, "It's sad most Americans only know him through .... his assignation." I think he means "assassination," since an assignation is generally connotes a meeting between lovers.

Not for what he did as a President but what he did in his life. President Lincoln had a goal, a dream, and overwhelming desire to succeed. He had failure after failure and he never gave up. He continued to move forward, working harder and laying the foundation for his dreams. He did not sit around with open hand waiting for someone to come and give him his dream.

There are a lot of Americans that need to read the story of his life and then look inward to see how they can better themselves and stop playing "I'm a victim" role.

It's sad that most Americans only know him through knowledge of the civil war, the abolishment of slavery, and his assignation.

He was a great example and a great leader. Which is something this country has been missing for 20 years and continues to miss.
