Worst Presidents: Introduction

Sorry. It's comments like Tom's that make me cringe, since he can't seem to string two coherent thoughts together. The consensus among educated people who have worked in the real world (versus those who pontificate from academia), the Carter and Obama years will be viewed as the most dismal in American History.

Do not blame Obama. All those economical problems started since Ronald Regan took the office. Our caw boy President started all of this and we helped . Our own mine is not in the right place. We are players and never think for the future. This is my view and goes on and on.

carter is the worst president on record. i called him mr. rodger's neighborhood. he was weak, wimp,no backbone, and the biggest mistake of all time. he did nothing but raise the interest rates up to 18%. people started getting layed off. it was insane back then. i thank god everyday for the real president that saved carter's ass was president ronald reagan our number one man.

We must learn from our mistakes or we are doomed to repeat them! The Republican party claims to be conservative, yet during the George W. Bush administration we racked up more debt than any Democratic party in the past. There is an axiom that both parties have a problem with and that is wars are expensive. Going to war on our own during the Bush administration destroyed our economy and it continues to do so. We need to resolve the conflict diplomatically and get out. We can't afford one war and Bush put us into two wars and promised more of the same. War is the biggest expense we have in our budget because there is no accountability in the money they spend behind closed doors. Regional wars in the middle east have been waged since before Christ and they are not about to stop. We need to work with our allies before taking on the wars alone. Also, Where is the Republicans budget? The just say no party? My motto is " If you can't come up with a better plan, then don't complain about the people or their plan!

Oh my god, a rational person on the Internet. Can...can I shake your hand?

Mr Tom -- I have a doctorate in economics, and I think Obama has a very conservative temperament and an overly cautious policy agenda. It is conservative not liberal to demand accountability and control as a quid pro quo for bailout money; his actions with respect to Chrysler seem quite appropriate to me. You are reading the wrong sources if you think our 1200 page health care legislation "nationalized" anything. I have read every page of it (unlike many of the legislators who voted both for and against it) and there is no nationalizing in this legislation. I think it does much too little, in fact. Historians will not rank Obama among the top ten presidents based on what we have so far seen (his rank among experts is now #15) -- but not because of excess activism. It will be that he tried too hard to reach across the aisle to incorrigible nay-sayers who would rather win elections than do their jobs and serve their constituencies. Disagreement is not ignorance -- I am far from ignorant and I disagree with you. Perhaps we just have to agree to disagree.

Herman; Our founding fathers were classical liberals. That was the old term for Libertarian. They wouldn't be conservative or liberal. They would be Libertarian. Just correcting you. Classical Liberalism=Libertarianism Classical Liberalism=/=Modern Liberalism

To Herman of TN- Obama a conservative ? No true conservative would have trampled on the property rights of the Chrysler bondholders, fired a sitting CEO of a PRIVATE corporation, nationalized the healthcare industry and , failed to uphold the Constitution by suing a state which is trying to enforce Federal law regarding immigration. I also am 62 and am ashamed that there are such ignorant people in my generation.
