It is too bad a lot of the comment writers here don't notice that the article is dated from 2007. Too soon to judge the then-current president, the article says.

Um, Andrew Johnson was a racis jerk who completely tried to undo all of Lincoln's policies that probably would have spared the U.S. a bunch of issues. He also was a horrible Reconstruction leader at a critical time when a strong leader was a necessity.

Time will tell. I don't appreciate W's stance or non-stance on prohibiting the subprime mortgage travesty which caused today's economic turmoil. However, Bill Clinton & the Democrats started it's snowballing effect in the mid-1990s so I don't pin it all on W.
Remember, from 2006 to 2008 Democrats owned Congress so they should have stopped it rather than sit around today blaming Bush for it and meanwhile attempting to stoke it back up again!
Have you seen the Barney Frank videos on You Tube from 2006 & 2007 where he said there was no problem with Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae?!? I cannot believe that guy is not in jail!
I didn't like Bush's weak stance on illegal immigration. We have a big economic mess to cleanup due to it. It IS NOT a racial or bigotry issue! If you have budgets at the local, state, regional, & federal levels planned to pay for services for a specific number of people but the number is actually 16M to 20M more than planned, you will go bankrupt. This is one MAJOR reason why California is going bankrupt! Taxes cannot be raised enough to cover it, so services need to be cut back rather than increased! People are leaving this state because taxes are increasing at the state & local levels. Sales tax is now the highest in the US. The only people coming in now are those looking for a free ride.
You have to admit that Bush kept the US safe. Wait until more documents become declassified and you'll see what was prevented. Obama's castration of the CIA & other intelligence agencies will result in less security. Whether on his watch or the next President, something will happen and you can't blame Bush. Look at how North Korea, China, pirates, and others are getting more bold now that Bush is out of office! They feel they can push us around now. Hopefully we'll find the strength to stand for right, not just for what seems popular at the time, according to media polls!
