I thought Bush Jr. would be here,I am surprized!

Amazing! Lyndon Johnson was clearly the most crooked and dangerous men ever to run the US yet not here. Good for war, big government and his oil and mafia buddies, terrible for liberty, faith and trust in government.

@Philosophirant 2:11PM January 16, 2012

George W. Bush. The only reason he's not on the list is because most of these surverys were done before his presidency.

I don't really understand why WH Harrison and Garfield were inluded at all. Their presidencies were too brief for them to do anything worth judging.

I'd have put Pierce at #2 rather than Harding. The latter was unlucky in some of his friends, but postwar eras are usually corupt and his was no worse than some others. The big disaster of the 20s, Prohibition, was already in place before he took office.

If political failure is the criterion, both Tyler and Andrew Johnson should be higher.

No doubt Obama is the worst president in US history. Hands down without a doubt!

G.W. Bush (1) and Nixon (2) should be at the top of the list due to their lies, deceit, and disgraceful, delusional leadership.

G.W. Bush refused to testify under oath and abused executive privilege. Our Founding Fathers were not looking for a King who claims he is "chosen by God" and is above the law. G.W. Bush claimed that God wanted him to be president and as a so-called Christian he could not testify under oath because he knew he was lying and deceiving the people of the United States of America in the name of oil profits.

The President is the Chief Executive of our great nation and like any other Chief Executive, he sets the direction or course our nation will take. Although Mr. Brown makes some valid points, Chief Executives answer to a board of directors, in this case it is "We the People" that he must answer to. Chief Executives must determine the vision, state the mission and execute the strategy and this is done through a careful analysis of the landscape, namely through a review of our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, so as to insure the business does not fail. Government is not that much different. The President has a fiduciary, along with a constitutional obligation to the people of our great nation and he or she does this through a number of mechanisims. Yes it is the legislative branch that compiles laws and regulations, but it is the President that signs these into law. Relationships in business are what bring about cooperation and this President has failed at establishing meaningful relationships within the legislative branch, along with alienating members of his own party. Although I agree with Mr. Brown that we, as a ntion have become complacent, we have also failed to recognize what true leadership is. Our country is lost at sea with no competent captain to bring us back to shore. Our nation voted for someone with charisma, rather than experience, they voted for good looks, rather true leadership, they failed to look at the resume and now we wonder why this country is without true leadership and we are in a disasterous state. In a recent article I read, the distinctions between Mr. Reagan and Mr. Obama were outlined. When Mr. Reagan acquired the office, this country was in a financial crisis, as was the case with Mr. Obama. The difference is that Mr. Reagan grabbed the bull by the horns and brought it down to it's knees, tackling the problems at hand. Mr. Obama is still sitting on the sidelines waiting for the picador to soften up the bull before he takes him on, a rather lengthly, if not dispecable process if your picador is the United States House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. Two and a half years into his presidency, he continues to point the finger at the former administration, but he seems to forget that he was elected on the promise that he would bring about meaningful change and undo all the failures of the Bush Administration. The only changes I have seen are a doubling of our deficit, increased spending, worthless stimulus packages that only benefit a few and a Federal Reserve whose only solution to the problem is printing more money, all under Mr. Obama's watch. Mr. Brown, it isn't that the American people can't bring the nation back into prosperity, it's that the current administration, with their anti-business policies/socialist mindset keep kicking us down, everytime we attempt to get back up. And no there won't be a second term, there are too many out there that are true leaders.

It's sad that you so called American's who don't even understand politics get on these sites and post these biased opinions on issues you don't even comprehend. This is America and the problem with in our country today is not the president it's the Americans. I think we have forgotten that the president doesn't solely make decisions for our country. We have elected the representatives and senators who vote on the legislation that is being passed or denied. We are looking to the president to create jobs for us when that's what we should do for ourselves. What happened to being innovative? What happened to creating new industries and markets? While we sit here to criticize our leadership our children are obese and poorly educated. They play video games and eat fast food. They don't read or exercise their brains other than when they go to the daycare we call our education system. Meanwhile the Chinese children are in school everyday preparing the next generation of world leaders. Napolean said, " Let China sleep. For when she awakes the world will be sorry." We are on a crash course to fulfilling this prophecy. What happened to United We Stand? It seems like the only time Americans unite is in tragedy. A house divided will not stand. So until we take responsibility and initiative as Americans to make a change in our individual lives we will not see change as a country. We have to stop being complacent and get back to work. The American people will save our country not the president. We live in the land of opportunity so it's time that we capitalize. So to all of you who want to sit here and blame Obama, Bush, Clinton or whoever I'd like to say it's time to shut up and make something happen. Obama is the president and he is probably going to serve a second term because there is nobody that matches up. So instead of the pointless criticism i suggest we start showing some support. If we don't our great great grand kids may end up working in sweatshops owned by China. I am Sherwood Brown Jr. and I'm proud to be an American.

Tired of people coming up with excuses for this guy. A true leader doesn't make excuses, a true leader doesn't blame the previous president. A true leader rolls up his sleeves and fixes the problem. He doesnt tour Europe and Africa like some rock star. I dont remember Truman jetsetting all over the world. Eisenhower saw enough of Europe as Commander of the Allies. His only personal time he spent playing golf for a few hours a week. They were leaders! Look, he wanted this job. He knew the state that our country was in before he took office and things have only gotten worse. There is no one to blame but himself. If you think he's a hip, cool dude is one thing. But anyone that goes around apologizing and kissing the butts of everyone we ever pissed off, or puts his foot in his mouth about a police officer that was only doing his job. That shows no backbone and poor judgement. He's just a rock star. He's not a leader.

The President has three jobs, Executor, Ambassador, Commander. The worst presidents are those who either extend beyond these areas, or who fail to fill these responsibilities. Those combined responsibilities are designed to keep us solvent, safe, and unified (united). Obama is not done. Judge him later. Grant wins title as worst. Linclon makes the top ten worst. Carter holds hands with Linclon. Wilson is in that group. LBJ is in that group. Any president who divides our interests at our own expense is 'counter-American.' A screaming example of presidential success is Eisenhower. Another is Jackson. Finally Jefferson epitomizes true presidential prowess. We, as a sovereign state, need to look for leaders who can see beyond the next election or the polls done inside the court of public opinion.
