John Edwards
John Edwards is a southern boy at heart. He was born in Seneca, S.C., and spent his youth in Robbins, N.C. Edwards was the first in his family to go to college; he graduated from North Carolina State University in 1974 and then went on to law school at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Edwards worked as a trial lawyer for 20 years before being elected to the Senate in 1998. He ran for president in 2004 and was the Democratic vice presidential nominee, running with John Kerry.
