Jose Baez no longer attorney for Casey Anthony

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Attorney Jose Baez says he no longer represents Casey Anthony, the Florida mother whose 2011 murder trial made him one of the best known criminal defense lawyers in the country.

In a statement Wednesday, Baez says he has withdrawn from the Anthony case and must attend to the needs of his other clients.

Since the Anthony trial, Baez has taken on as a client Gary Giordano, an American businessman suspected in the presumed death of his traveling companion in Aruba. Baez also has been giving speeches and offering television commentary.

Anthony was acquitted of killing her 2-year-old daughter Caylee last July. She is serving probation on an unrelated charge, and has appealed convictions on four counts of lying to authorities.

Baez says Anthony isn't fielding offers to sell her story.
