Carol Browner: Congress Needs to Pass Energy and Climate Legislation

Not to say that clean energy isn't important. Right now the American people want to hear about REAL WORLD JOBS that are being created not about yet another one of the democratic majority trying to push their political agenda through congress. This is just another shining example of how out of touch our representatives really are.

Not wanted by the right people anyway.

I was dismayed when I saw no mention of alga as fuel in the article dealing with clean energy.

If you google or go to youtube and enter "Valcent alga" you will find information indicating alga can be produced in quantities sufficient to supply all of the countries liquid fuel energy needs.

Valcent CEO Glenn Kurtz claims only 10% of the land in New Mexico would be needed for the greenhouse type "factories" to produce the alga that is then compressed to remove the oils. The oil can be used in anything that burns diesel, or kerosene, or fuel oil. They can inject different strains of alga into the "bioreactor" to produce the desired fuel. He says even gasoline could be made. The greenhouse would sit on arid land not suitable for the growing of food. The process recycles more then 90% of the water so it doesn't need thousands of gallons of water as in the production of ethanol or biodiesel. Right now the US is turning edible corn and soybeans into fuel when it could be used to feed people. WHY??

Alga absorbs CO2 from the air during its growth cycle so it is "holding" CO2 out of the atmosphere during its liquid stage. Even when it is burned it is only releasing CO2 that was already in the atmosphere, not NEW CO2, as with fossil fuel. It is a vegetable oil therefore it burns clean. It is non toxic in the event of a spill, and it won't harm your skin and there are no hazardous fumes while refilling the fuel tank of your vehicle.

I have sent this info to at least 25% of all elected senators and representatives and yet there is NO mention of it whenever there is dialogue concerning clean energy.

WHAT IS THE HOLD UP?

Why does the US continue to finance countries hostile to our way of life by the continued use of fossil fuel petrol?
