What is it about the United States? We do all we can to maintain our image as world leader except when what we can do is demonstrable through other than military/power/wealth. We strut about like cocks of the roost as long as sacrificing or reducing our vaunted standard of living are not part of the deal.

Is it not enough proof to Americans that with 5% of the world's population we use more than 20% of the world's renewable energy? Is it not enough to Americans that relative to our smaller population we produce huge quantities of toxic gases and waste? Is it not enough that without us LEADING the way in any international effort to reduce global warming, the effort will fail?

Dragging our heels as we have now for years could well be irreversible disaster in the making. Worrying about the cost to our economy is no excuse at all if we're REALLY thinking about the generations that will follow us and not just about our present well being.

Yes indeed, no matter which side of the Climate fence you sit on the simple fact is that "forcing" Government's idea of green will cost US dearly. More regulation, more taxes, more loss of State's rights, more passed on costs to the American consumer AND more loss of jobs. Truth is, the world has had MAJOR climate shifts with none of us around. Is it emissions, destruction of the rainforests or inevitable climate shifts beyond our control? Nobody really knows and CERTAINLY NOT our Government.

It makes far more sense to encourage rather that chastise...any good parent or pet owner will tell you so. Right now going green is more expensive in the market place but as more people demand it, the cheaper it will get. It becomes good business.

No matter what the US or the EU does, the other countries will continue on their merry economic way. Re-distribution of wealth?

Where are we being shoved folks?

The Dems can shove yet another horrible Bill and insure their demise in 2010. Maybe they'll save US all yet.

Why is Congress putting so much trust in the EPA numbers? The EPA isn't about research or science, rather it's a propaganda and enforcement tool for the Obama administration, which is trying to shove this Global Warming...err..Climate Change nonsense down our throats. If this weren't so, then why did the EPA silence one of its own scientists (Alan Carlin), whose research dared to raise serious doubts about the EPA's (and the Administration's) predetermined conclusion that CO2 is a "pollutant"?
