Let's all wake up on greenhouse gas emissions. Let us remember that 35% of the problem stems from archaic agricultural practices, going under the guise of "modern." I believe that putting all the blame on automotive and fuel emissions may hinder some of our best, most affluence-creating businesses (as long as they are foreign, I don't think that's a bad thing). Where would we get the tax money then for economic stimulus plans if it weren't for rich American businesses such as oil? But even if we were to totally strap and regulate out of existence our current sources of energy, we would still have a gigantic greenhouse emissions problem due, as I said, to agriculture. Another thing I don't understand: Why are we always pointing the finger at American businesses that are guilty of creating an environmental burden? By far, China has a worse record and goes uncriticized no end. Is that fair and right I ask you?

For a dazzling display of ignorance and inattention to facts, most comments here win some kind of prize for bad citizenship. Henry Waxman is one of the best lawmakers who ever served in Congress. He weathers all kinds of insults from under-educated critics. Emotional fireworks coming from the Far Right show why there's a shift away from letting corporations write laws and getting the GOP to pass them. More women are becoming lawmakers, judges, mayors and governors. Most of them have degrees in the hard sciences and are to be trusted to help save the environment from further degradation. In college days, we knew a couple who tried to get us to read "Silent Spring, " and "The Population Bomb." I did, but others did not and began calling them "environmentalist nuts." Well, that aware couple was right. For the first Earth Day, I prepared a display for a mall and took part in it proudly. Even then, I had photos of receding glaciers.

Lies, lies, and more lies!

I have read every comment posted on this subject, and I am amazed at the overwhelming disagreement shown here toward the people running, or should I say ruining this Country, such as Waxman. Is it possible that people who have the ability to read and write with understanding are the only ones in opposition to the nonsense merchants in Washington D.C. and they are simply outnumbered at the polls by the illiterate?
Look at California for instance, a State rich in natural wealth, and once had an Industrial Base that was the envy of the World, then along came characters such as Waxman, Fienstein, Boxer, and Pelosi. Now take a look at the condition of once wealthy California, it's on life support system.
Then we have the "greenies" and other assorted weirdos primarily located in California who were instrumental in ridding the United States of its Industrial Base and having it transferred first to Japan, then Taiwan and now the coupe de grace, China and even India.
In less than one generation, the United States went from being the largest lender Nation in the World to the biggest borrower. We are now standing with a beggar's tin cup depending on a few coins being thrown our way from the people who "inherited" our jobs.
The geniuses in D.C. are puzzled as to why the unemployment figures are so high... here's a CLUE ... the United States jobs have all been shipped overseas! About the only things made here now is Big Macs and fries.... oh, and not quite, the beef for the Big Macs comes from Argentina, Americans only get to flip the burgers.
The Industries in China and India are churning out pollution unrestricted, yet never a whimper from the Al Gorites. Perhaps those buffoons think that China and India are on another planet.

This pathetic excuse for a person who should work to help improve citizens lives is as dangerous as any of the out-of-control radicals that are now running our Congress. The people of California should be ashamed that they have allowed this man(?) to enter Congress and cause the damage he is, has, and will. Waxman is more interested in cow farts than good science, yet he sets himself up as an expert on all matters. I will do whatever I can to help neutralize this idiot and hopefully send him packing back to his extreme liberal buddies. He can't hurt California too much since it is already in financial ruin.

Since Congressman Waxman is more interested in padding his pockets with money by passing this bill that he doesn't fully understand and doesn't care that it is going to raise the utility rates for all Americans as well as provide another way of taxation with energy changes. It's time to vote this individual out of office! I promise I will help in any way I can to get this individual voted out of office. Its time to vote someone in who actually cares about the American people and puts our needs above their own. Americans are tired of having these political leaders in office who are greedy and self serving. Time to get out and vote Congressman Waxman out! We want a change in our climate but not the one the Congressman Waxman is proposing!!!
