What your story fails to disclose is, China is a major player in the exploration. Two environmentally sensitive countries, with friendly regimes? Wake up America, an oil spill off shore in Cuba will be an environmental disaster up the East coast and or the gulf.

Anyone ever saw how Cuban rafters use the current to take them to the Florida Straits? How do you think the oil will flow? Down?

Comunist countries with the envy and desire to ruin the US and make us a third world nation. We may be on our way....

One thing that jumps out at me is toward the end of the article: "Others are worried that a future oil spill, given Gulf currents, could spoil Florida beaches and shore areas." Interesting how we hold the belief that Cuba (and their contractors) would screw up the Gulf of Mexico when in fact, the US is responsible for an unprecedented spill due to lax regulation. There's always going to be a "them." We should be more concerned with how we do business ourselves, and teach the world through examples - not embargoes.

Mojo of XX.....

Cubans are not happy. Only the ones they pay to interact with tourists and tell them stories of the glorious revolution are "happy". I know. I was one of them 20 years ago. You are being used.

I have just returned from a holiday in Cuba and found that Cubans were wonderful, warm people who are more than happy the way they are. To a man everyone we spoke to about USA gave it the "thubs down" Not one person want Americans in Cuba and if USA people want to see the results of the 50 year embargoes go take a look if you dare because you certainly won't be welcome
