Energy Secretary Steven Chu Faces Tough Menu of Choices

Secretary Chu,

Many of the proposed tax changes will hurt the Independent Oil and Gas Producer, who drill solely here in the United States to make us less dependent on foreign oil. Without being able to benefit from tax deductions like other industries they will have to severely scale back their operations and risk adding hundreds-of-thousands more unemployed workers.

My family has been operating a small Oil and Gas Producing Company for three

generation. Please consider the consequences of your tax proposals on the SMALL family owned businesses. It could be disastrous.

Response to Clayton Jones

·So start imagining solution with out crushing the common man¨ What a profound statement, Mr Jones appears to have found a very simple solution to our energy needs. This may also be a very relitive solution to correcting our current economic problem. 100 Billion is a lot of dough. The problem I see with this INCENTIVE, is the fact that it is an incentive and not a grant. There are many Clayton Jones out there with great solutions to fix the problems and many common men that have possable solutions to add to a fix. Make the 100 Billion available to all and the solution shall be fixed. Science research alone can suck up a 100 Billion in a very short time, Producing What, another Nobel Prize Winner.

Whether you like it or not the simple fact is that we are terraforming our planet. But without a design or a plan.

If global warming is man made how do you explain the 150 year drought that hit the Americas, especially the American southwest?! This devastating drought began around 1150 AD and did not brake until around 1300 AD. The Aztec kept great weather records check them out!

The modern era has no idea what global warming is all about and has not experienced true global warming as fore mentioned. I am anthropologist and I have seen the clear evidences of natural global warming. Of course humankind can add to nature's natural global warming, but to say it is humankind alone is silly and pseudo science. As a matter of fact modern scientists have created more science myths than were circulating in the Dark Ages!. I know, name three! Okay you're on! Red Drift used by astrophysicist to measure celestial distances and star movements, but these geniuses do not include the "Electric" influences exerted on the stars and planets and so their calculations are incorrect by a huge factor! The Electric Universe theory challenges all know beliefs of the age and size of the known universe since it states that the current universe is smaller thus younger. Oh no! The evolutionist are wringing their hands because their evolutionary billions of years have been pushed back about 8 billion years.....now there's a political incorrect theory pooping in the mess kit of another's science discipline. I'll spare you guys two other examples. I am sure you guys can figure them or out for yourselves. Hell you may discover a few modern science myths on your own!

I am sorry to say science has been infiltrated by politics and we all know that politicians are natural hot air polluters or in others words they are simply liars at their best! How many of you so called scientists out there use political correctness to get a paycheck?! Come on tell the truth! You can do it. Any of Squid Brains interested in a Water Powered Car? Of course not the problem of global warming would be over and then you white coats would be out of a paycheck....

China and Russia are not complying with the Kyoto Accord. Any reason for that may I ask? This global warming stuff is political and bad science. And besides I'll take Warming over another Ice Age any day of the week. Outside of a few inconveniences like more tornados in America and hurricanes and cyclones in other parts of the world who cares. Wait I hear someone whining about crop failures! Please get a life. "V hav Vays to Solve Z Problem!" Come on folks put on your thinking caps and get with it. We're Humans for God's sake we can do anything that we can imagine! So start imagining solutions without crushing the common man or he will rise up and crush you when he has had enough. Good day.

To consider one's own mortality is a crazy thing. But, ignoring the signs of a changing climate (don't look now, but the fabled northwest passage became ice-free for the first time EVER in September 2007) won't make it go away.

We all know the story of Noah's Ark. Noah saw the signs, and prepared for it. The rest of the world pointed and laughed...and then perished. The story didn't actually happen of course but there is something very real to learn from the moral of this story. We need to do what we can. Please, start by changing all those old light bulbs with CFL's. This step alone would put us back to 1990 emmission levels.

Look, the rest of the world has largely moved beyond the arguement of "is global warming real, and human caused" and now realizes that it is happenning. It is only here in the U.S. that the arguement has any life left in it. Why? The huge amount of ExxonMobile-funded scientific studies about global warming. ExxonMobile made $45 billion profit this year breaking the old record set by...well...ExxonMobile last year.

Tricia, It would be very interresting and maybe surprising to find out why you think the way you do.

If Steve Fredericks gets his information the same place he learned to spell or type, it's not surprising he thinks the way he does.

A growing number of scientists (which Al Gore is NOT) are debunking the 'THEORIES' of global warming. Have a strong idea that -- somewhat like Jimmy Carter -- Al Gore felt compelled to leave some tracks for the world following his loss in 2000. Jimmy Carter decided to be a free lance secretary of state, and Al Gore decided to be the ultra ego of climatologists -- without the degree!! I cannot believe that he has developed the cult following that has evolved, but as PT BARNUM once said, "THERE IS A FOOL BORN EVERY MINUTE!"

We need to takecare of our home, the earth. Besides the polutions we produces every day. The earth's resources are decreasing greatly. It's only a matter of time. Some say it's the sixth extinction we're dealing with right now.Small changes in evey individule can make a big differences.Turn off the light when leaving a room, take public transportation...etc. these can all help us protect and maintain our environment.
