Here's what I'm placing my faith in. That we can stop seeing the world and its problems in black and white, Us vs. Them. Christians are not a monolith as this article attests. We could all be so much more effective as a country if we came together. As an atheist, I don't agree with Christianity, but I'm proud to live in a country where a person is free to have their beliefs. I also would rather work towards what we all have in common than work to divide us. We want many of the same things, and right now the economy and fighting violent extremists should be top of the list. There are special interests in the Media and in Govt. that are doing what they can to control those who are easy to control, by feeding you hateful trash so you live in fear and never question. There are people who want you to buy their hateful, lying books, they are predators of your fear, and are getting rich off of it.

Not much can be done for the hardcore racsists and Christian extremists. But for the average American, don't let the emotionalism bait you. Listen to what Obama has to say in his own words, and not videos edited by FOX news or something like it. Be calm, sober and rational, seek out what lies between the hype on the left and right. Do the same with McCain. And after all that, if you still want to vote McCain, at least you can say you did it because you did the honest research, not because you just swallowed what political pundit$ wanted you to believe, and not because you swallowed every crazy email that was sent to you, and not because you actually took seriously the Obama/Paris Hilton joke.

I have faith that America will let reason win this time. Let's not be scared little rabbits this go round, shall we?

Who is your news source? Where do you get your "facts?" And how will it affect our country exactly if a President doesn't celebrate your chosen holiday? Imagine if Obama was Jewish...how ridiculous would your comments be then?

Question. Everything. Don't swallow "facts" whole just because you want to believe it.

I'm sorry folks, I know you don't like to believe this of yourselves, and I hate to point it out because I don't want to believe it either, but its bigotry, pure and simple. You're afraid of the black man and you're afraid of someone who doesn't run lock-step to your faith. You're also afraid of a man who contemplates, analyzes and listens to others about the big issues of life. For you, it seems a white man who doesn't live like a Christian yet spouts the right talking points as if he is is what you really want. Do you really want to fall for it --AGAIN???

There are many nominal Christians from various churches who do primarily care all that much about social issues. In other words, they are not necessarily "social conservatives". However, the litmus test for most Evangelicals is if the candidate for president is pro-abortion and/or pro gay marriage or not. If he is, he cuts down his support considerably. Furthermore, Obama, for example, is one of the most pro-abortion candidates in history. There is not a pro-abortion bill that he has not voted yes on. Even partial-birth-abortions are okay in his book. And the Evangelicals are very much aware of that fact. That is just the way the cookie crumbles, no doubt about it.

In answer to FAITH and all other people who profess to be Christians, but believe we should allow the choice of whether a woman wants to murder a helpless child b/t herself, her doctor, and her god, do you feel that way about the murder of every other people group, i.e. ages, races, genders, etc.? God gave everyone the right to make a choice in what they do...however, not without consequences. We've decided in the U.S. to take it to a whole different level and give everyone a choice to murder a particular age group regardless of their gender or race, with no consequences whatsoever. Romans 1:32 speaks of those who "approve of those who practice them" regarding condoning sinful behavior. There's an excellent sermon about abortion on a website called northsidefellowship.net. which is dated 08/03. You should check it out!

I've been a supporter of Obama since I read a piece he wrote in a magazine that a friend forwarded me. He spoke about religion with respect and honesty. Over the years of the Bush administration, my own Lutheran church became more and more political. They put voter guides in the narthex telling us to vote for republicans.

I had been studying the Bible for over 20 years, cover to cover, and I knew to the core of my being that a war that did not meet the standard of a 'just war' was intolerable. I also knew that a country will be blessed if it is a blessing, and visa versa. Do these people ever read the prophets? Act justly, love mercy, and walk HUMBLY with your God.

Obama's values are my values. I don't support abortion, but that is an issue between a woman, her doctor, and God. We are to live our lives in such a way that people will want to know where our peace comes from, not in a way that makes them wonder why we hate so much.

Well, the famous Republican facade of using a Sock pocket who conforms to the personality traits of small town americans, yet who secretly will implement policies that will shoot them in the foot and fail to help the working class or middle class, but merley the richest of the rich, is finally starting to show itself up to all americans for the evil scam that it is.

I do wonder, Susan (below), why you feel you can trust John McCain to give you the judges you think you want. He is, after all, lying about everything else. Methinks you're being had (again) for the benefit of the tax cut (for Donald Trump) crowd.
