I've had enough of this nonsense. The lies and smears need to be called out. Every time I read something from another firefighter that is critical of Obama it is about NOTHING BUT LIES and DISTORTION. Enough of this nonsense. Obama is not a terrorist or a terrorist sympathizer. He is not a sociailist. Get real here, people. Are we going to ask about McCain's ties to the neo-Nazi group or Palin's ties to the separatist group in Alaska or McCain saying (on video) that is for people making more money to pay more in taxes (spreading the wealth) or that the "socialist" McCain voted for the "socialist" bail-out package. Give me a freakin' break! What I want to know is what are the REAL reasons my fellow firefighters don't like Obama? If you do even just a little bit of research you'll see that the lies and smears about Ayers and socialism, etc., are simply nonsensical smokescreens that have nothing to do with how Obama will lead our country or work for firefighters. The difference between Obama and McCain is clear and obvious: Obama supports issues important to firefighters (such as collective bargaining, etc.) and McCain does not. McCain runs a lying smear campaign that he said he would NOT run. Obama runs an ethical, higher class campaign built on hope and change. His campaign is not perfect, as none are. But it is far and away more ethhical and inspiring than the old guy who chose a hockey mom who supports a party that wants the state of Alaska to separate from the United States of America. The choice couldn't be any clearer: VOTE OBAMA!

I am an IAFF member and am upset that the union would support a person that has taken the time to pen 2 books about himself yet failed to pen his own bill while in the Senate. Obama may be a good person, however he does not have the ability to lead the free world. A community organizer that has affiliations with people like Ayres, ACORN, and Rev. Wright should be viewed with a close eye. His economic plan is vauge at best. Now asfar as the IAFF Pres and his hitmen. Your pockets are so filled with DNC money that you can't see the forest for the trees. "HE" Obama has told you what you want to hear. You have not taken the time think of your members. You and the North-East zombies think Oh!! This is a union we support the Democrats. TOO BAD..

I will NOT endorse a socialist let alone one with his crazy connections (Ayres, his preacher, Acorn etc) You know as well as I do that if John McCain had anyone, just ONE of these ties he would be hammered by the disgusting liberal media. Wake up people stop tuning a blind eye to this guys past. Any of you that think McCain is another Bush needs to get a mental evaluation. It just shows that you fell into the media hype because he is nothing like bush. I am not the only Firefighter that feels this way. Remember, stop living in a news sound bite world and actually research Obama and you will understand.

And for the record the IAFF DID NOT survey it's members. This is just another example of Schaitberger doing what he pleases and leading the members in the wrong direction again.

How surprising the IAFF is supporting a candidate who associates with anti-American leftist who bombed the pentagon. On 9/11 343 firefighters were killed by terrorists who were allowed to go unchecked by Clinton and now he is supporting Obama. I think people have just given up thinking for themselves and just listen to the mainstream left wing media on how the only President in my time has actively gone after and killed terrorists. Let us not forget how these actions also have freed 50 million women who now can vote. There has not been or ever will be a survey done by the Iaff. They know we will be for a pro American rather than a man like Obama. Lets show the Iaff we are sick of it and break from this democratic propoganda machine. Remember one thing my fellow firefighters, nothing else matters if we get attacked again. The economy will crumble and we will lose everything.

Once again the IAFF is supporting the liberal candidate. If the numbers in this article are correct the majority of the members do not agree. I do not know one member who was asked to participate in this survey. This is eerily reminiscent of the John Kerry endorsement in which no one can recall a survey of the general membership. I am proud to say I am no longer an IAFF member.

IF YOU COMPARE SEN. OBAMA VOTING RECORD WITH THAT OF THE OTHER GUY,ON FIREFIGTHER AND UNION ISSUSES,I.E. COLLECTIVE BARGAINING,THE SAFER ACT ETC.,THE I.A.F.F. MADE THE ONLY CHOICE IT HAD. THE EXECUTIVE BOARD DID THIER HOMEWORK AND THEY DID SURVEY THE MEMBERSHIP (ZOGBY POLL) THEN ENDORSED SEN.OBAMA.I COULD NOT FIND ONE UNION IN THIS COUNTRY THAT ENDORSED THE OTHER GUY,WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU.

After being an IAFF member for 30 years, I resigned the IAFF following their endorsement of Chris Dodd last spring. Following their 2004 roll with John Kerry I had come to the conclusion that the "me first" attitudes of the Democrats no longer matched my personal attitudes. I was on our local's Executive Board for a period in the 80's and I don't recall the International EVER consulting with the smaller locals. The International did jump on the FDNY bash Giulani message because of screwy radios....the 800 mhz doesn't work for anyone, not just FDNY...my radio wouldn't work 20' into the Pentagon on 9/11.
I am still an active firefighter but the left wing liberals of the Democratic Socialists no longer speak for me ....and neither does the IAFF.

I consider myself a liberal member of the I.A.F.F. I'm also an affiliate officer. I wasn't surveyed either. I suspect a right-wing conspiracy. Kidding aside, I do understand that that the I.A.F.F. is a represenative democracy. The duly-elected Executive Board members set the political agenda for the organization based on identified issues of importance and the voting records of the respective candidates.
Perhaps you self-identified "socially conservative" members should run for these elected positions. I'm sure it would ultimately be of great benefit to the membership.

As a union officer, I also am not too pleased about the endorsment of a candidate that has done NOTHING for labor, and got the endorsement because he is a bleeding heart liberal. I have a hard time backing a candidate who is tied to Rev. Jeremiah "USofKKK" Wright, and who has never held a real job in his life or served his country in any tangible way. BTW - Being in congress doesnt make you a servant, it makes you a politician. So for all of us who believe in the Labor movement, but have other interests that reflect who we are......... I guess we are, dare I say, Disenfranchised.
