Getting hagel on the ticket would lock up my vote--otherwise, it is really up in the air!
We need someone a bit more further right on this ticket...please, no more left wing players with their heads in the clouds.

It has come to me in a vision (thanks Sylvia)The only choice that our new President will ever be able to trust as his Vice President is ANGELA DAVIS !It's perfect .They share ethnicity,revolutionary zeal,mutual disdain for european (lower case e) influence in the Third World.Plus,he will need help with the B***H demographic!

You say Obama should ask Hagel to be VP as that is God's will. Wow, you seem to have a direct line to God that no one else has. Wow! How elite of you. No wonder you like Sen. Obama. Since you know so much about God's will, please let me know how He feels about abortion--in particular, partial birth abortion. We know Sen. Obama is OK with partial birth abortion--he refussed to vote against it. Also, check the current news, not the Harry Reid addition. We have WON the Iraq war. The surge has done so well , killing and removing the enemy, that many Iraqi troops are strong enough to take on the enemy by themselves, AND the people of Iraq are with US. It appears we have won the hearts and minds of the Iraqis--as well as the war. BTW, hows the Kool Aid?

The only reason my daughter and her husband hesitate about Obama is on the abortion issue. Obama has taught us all one thing, to accepts each other's differences. I have wanted Chuck Hagel for Obama from the first time I saw Obama.
I have followed Senator through the Illinois senate after he said "not to invade Iraq". I knew he knew what he was talking about. Then I was thrilled that he spoke at the Democratic National Convention in John Kerry and John Edwards behalf.
I know this man, everything that he has ever said and done, as much as anyone could. I know his leadership abilities, integrity and heart.
I also have always been interested in Chuck Hagel as a person and as a leader. I would absolutely love it if they would come together!
Stop letting the Democratic National Committee or these Super Delegates run the show. Allow Obama to follow his heart and do God's will. I feel this strongly about this subject. I also feel frustrated that I keep trying to reach the Obama peole with no results. Chuck Hagel is absolutely right. No one will be perfect but these two people can work this out, they have the same heart and Chuck Hagel has made himself available to become the Vice President. I just wish Obama would see this. He is so busy and will have the fight of his life on his hands. He needs to get down and do something that will bring this country together. We have a lost war in Iraq and a fast growing situation in Afghanistan. Obama needs the support of a man who hears him, not for political reasons but for what is right!

Morton: You don't sound like a Obama supporter. Republican maybe? You say "he hasn't offered a single statement policy", "questions about his experience", and "ethics he may have caught". I'm not even sure what you mean by that last one.
Last person that we should ask about who Obama should pick as a VP is a Republican (or a disgruntled Clinton supporter for that matter). If either of those types of people reject Hagel, it just makes the argument for him stronger.
I disagree that it would be a feel good ticket. In fact, I think it would shake things up, particularly for the opposition. That's the point. On the other hand, I agree it's not time for appeasement, but I think I disagree with you about who we are talking about not appeasing.

The last thing Obama should do is to "reach out" to a conservative Republican for
a bipartizan feel good ticket when he hasn't offered a single statement of policy to the long list of Democrats and Independents waiting to hear what, if anything he stands for.
Who is the nominee? What will he negotiate? Where does he stand on American jobs and illegal aliens, speculator subsidies and a federal bureaucratic stagnation?
There are questions about his experience and the ethics he may have caught as a junior Senator.
This is not the time for appeasement.

I'm a life long Democrat, who cried during Al Gore's concession speech. I think Hagel is the perfect choice as Obama's VP!
Both parties need to renovate and refocus. The Democrats have become corrupt and beholden to the lobbyests. The Republicans have become extreme hypocrites with contradictory ideals.
Who cares how he feels about abortion as long as it doesn't affect policy? I think we can convince true conservatives that certain issues shouldn't be part of politics anyway.
Are you kidding about Cohen? William Cohen become a Washington and Pentagon lobbyest when he left office. He often appears on Fox, has advised the Bush administration on foriegn policy, and appears to have profited from the war in Iraq. He may not be a true neocon but he did support the war in Iraq (obviously to his benefit financially).

Very Intelligent...and equally as important, savvy..
Could chart successful path out of Iraq...
Older than BO but young and fit enough for long haul, appeals to older voters
Dramatic statement about bi-partisanship...
When BO asks "What do you think about x?? a well reasoned response will come.

Why isnt Mccain considering Hegel? Just because Hagel has some anti-war credibility? Seems like getting someone on the opposing side of THAT issue would help create the sense that Mc is open to a new ideas and other directions.
The article is right, Hagel is conservative. Hagel is the real Mccain, or rather who Mccain should've become instead of giving up his independence for a perceived chance at the white house. I think the former Senator from Maine, Cohen would be a better choice- more of a moderate.
