3 Things You Didn't Know About Montana Primaries and Elections
1. Since 2006, Montana has allowed residents to become permanent absentee voters by registering once. Before sending out ballots, the Montana elections office sends letters to absentee voters to verify their addresses.
2. In the past 40 years only one Democrat, Bill Clinton, has won the Montana presidential contest.
The total number of registered voters in Montana has almost tripled since the 1920 general election. In the 2004 general election there were 638,474 registered voters; only 261,257 were registered to vote in the general election of 1920. Over that same time span the percentage of registered voters who have cast ballots has fluctuated between 53 percent and 86.4 percent.
