LONDON (AP) — Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron will deliver his long-awaited speech on the U.K.'s future in Europe on Wednesday.

The speech, billed as one of Cameron's most important as prime minister, was due to take place last week in the Netherlands but was delayed because of the hostage crisis in Algeria.

Cameron's office said Monday that the prime minister will deliver the speech in central London on Wednesday.

He has insisted that Britain should remain within the 27-country European Union, but indicated that he will suggest in the speech renegotiating the terms of its membership.

That has prompted a chorus of concern from around the world stressing the importance of Britain's presence in the EU and warning of the consequences of a potential exit from the bloc.
