In a new online spot entitled "turtle soup," Stovall poses with his pickup truck, his gun and his dog and talks smack about Cornyn being too cozy with the Republican Leader, who occasionally will cut a deal with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.
He says he’s different because he’s the true conservative among the trio. We say he’s different because of his campaign ads – for instance, he just called Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., a "beltway turtle."
"As a U.S. Senator for Texas, you vote for Texas, you don’t stab her in the back by voting for cloture on Obamacare, you don’t enslave its children with unconstitutional laws and overwhelming debt,” Stovall said. “And you certainly don’t do all this to please some guy that looks and fights like a turtle."
Up on the screen pops a separated-at-birth graphic of McConnell and a cartoon turtle. "I’m a Texan, we Texans don’t need a beltway turtle telling us how to fight," Stovall said.
As a bonus, Stovall’s dog chimes in. "I like turtle soup," the dog "said," to which Stovall replied, "really?"
Stovall ends his campaign ad with the tagline "Just So You Know," riffing off the popular "the more you know" public service announcements that started in the '80s.
