Members of Congress were nice enough to give “House of Cards” fans a taste of the fictional Rep. Frank Underwood, D-S.C., on Thursday in advance of the political drama’s second season, which Netflix will start streaming at 3:01 a.m. Friday.
Reciting some of Kevin Spacey’s character’s most nefarious lines, a handful of lawmakers took part in the video package produced by NowThis News.
“I never make such big decisions so long after sunset, so far from dawn,” House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said. (Fun fact: McCarthy and House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., actually helped Spacey prepare to play his role as House majority whip.)
Even though former House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., told The Washington Post, “I’m not that kind of whip” in reference to Underwood, he still played ball.
“I have no patience for useless things,” Clyburn told the camera.
The video also proves that when given the right lines – as opposed to last week's Washington Press Club Foundation dinner debacle – Rep. Donna Edwards, D-Md., delivers.
