Vice President Joe Biden promoted Delaware's own Capriotti's Thursday, but had to bum $10 off an aide to do it.

Vice President Joe Biden was at his most "Biden" Thursday as he "flipped on his aviators" and rode over to Capriotti's, a Delaware-based sandwich shop that just opened its doors in Washington, D.C., according to the White House pool report.

The VPOTUS bragged about his home state of Delaware.

"This is gonna settle once and for all, the best sandwich in America is out of Wilmington, Del.," Biden said.

"No more of this stuff about Chicago and Philly and New York," he continued, boasting that he was bringing a sandwich back to the president.

He gave a half shout-out to his other home state of Pennsylvania. (Biden was born in Scranton before moving to Wilmington.)

"The only place where Philadelphia can compete with us is in steak sandwiches. Just compete. Compete not win," Biden said.

He also gave advice on proper sandwich eating techniques.

"The only way to eat these things is with hot peppers, but not everybody understands that," Biden said. His order included two medium Italians, one with hot peppers, another with hot peppers on the side, a large Italian and a large Bobble -- basically Thanksgiving dinner on a bun -- also with hot peppers.

When he found himself short on cash, he bummed money from an aide.

"Fran, you got ten bucks?" Biden said when his order came to $56.25. Fran Person, his personal aide, came to the rescue.

As he exited, he praised the Racing Presidents, the mascots for the Washington Nationals baseball team, who were hanging out outside.

"Hey, I love you guys, but, you know, if you showed up outside of Capriotti's on Union Street, you'd be in trouble," the veep warned.

"They're all Phillies fans, you know what I mean?" he said referencing Philadelphia's baseball team.

He also encouraged folks gathered on M Street to step inside.

"Are you going to get a sub?" Biden said. "I like the Italian best, the Bobble is good."
