Here's a fun little tidbit from Capitol File's profile of Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii. The 32-year-old lawmaker -- who likes to surf -- enjoys across-the-aisle gym sessions with some of Capitol Hill's fittest members -- Reps. Aaron Schock, R-Ill., and Paul Ryan, R-Wis.
Schock's fitness claim to fame was posing shirtless on the cover of Men's Health, while Ryan's trim physique was fodder when he was Mitt Romney's running mate. Both men are P90X aficionados, a workout regimen that Gabbard shares, according to Capitol File's Susanna Quinn, who penned the piece for the magazine's holiday issue.
"I like to mix it up...and also play capoeira [a Brazilian martial art] when I can," Gabbard also told the D.C. glossy. (Gabbard also names Rep. Scott Peters, D-Calif., as her Democratic workout buddy.)
Additionally, she notes that her youthful appearance sometimes still gets her confused as a Hill staffer. Case in point, during Quinn's interview with the lawmaker, Gabbard is almost booted from the congressional subway car that's just for members. "I represent Hawaii," Gabbard replied. "Happens all the time," she added.
