It looks like "Morning Joe" co-host Joe Scarborough has a case of text message envy. Mika Brzezinski, his on-air partner, revealed Wednesday night at a Politico Playbook event that she and Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J., sometimes share text messages.
"How many of you think he could be a contender?" Brzezinski said, surveying the crowd on Christie's 2016 prospects. "He does too, I think, and he likes to text me his approval ratings -- like all the time," Brzezinski revealed, saying that Christie especially likes to boast about his high approval numbers among women.
Scarborough said it wasn't just Christie who texts his co-host. "Everybody texts Mika, everybody texts Mika, I don't take it personally -- nobody texts me," Scarborough said. "Mika gets presidents and prime ministers texting her all the time." Scarborough was supposed to be the man of the hour, promoting his new book, "The Right Path." Instead he got a, "you're textable enough," response from Politico's Jim VandeHei.
But then Brzezinski tried a party trick -- calling Christie from the stage -- and the governor didn't answer. (The last time Scarborough and Brzezinski appeared at such a Politico event, Christie picked up.) "He'll start texting you again in 2015," Scarborough said of the newly re-elected New Jersey governor.
