It's Bud Light For Sen. Heidi Heitkamp

The senator is a favorite of the liquor industry.

This Tuesday marked Sen. Heidi Heitkamp's, D-N.D., induction into the George Washington Spirit Society, an honor given to at least one lawmaker per year, by the Distilled Spirits Council.

The group, which represents the liquor industry, gave Heitkamp a plaque on the porch of historic Mount Vernon, treating the crowd to fireworks over the Potomac and a nice steak dinner.

Though the liquor was flowing, Heitkamp tells Whispers that her drink preference actually differs.

"While I'm not a big spirit drinker," she said. "I do enjoy a Bud Light every once in awhile."
