There was only one entrance to CNN's "Crossfire" party Tuesday night, which meant that Rep. Mark Sanford, R-S.C., and his mistress-turned-fiancee Maria Belen Chapur were forced to walk the red carpet.
Sanford tried to make the appearance in front of reporters and photographers quick, complementing the new cable show, pausing for a picture and succinctly saying how D.C. life was treating him.
"It's a pleasure, thank you," he told Whispers before guiding Chapur into the party. Inside, the freshman congressman and former South Carolina governor joined the likes of Caroline Kennedy, Rick Santorum, Wolf Blitzer, Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., and hosts Van Jones, Stephanie Cutter, S.E. Cupp and Newt Gingrich, for the festivities.
