Giffords, along with "Good Morning America" host Robin Roberts and Olympic gold medal-winning figure skater Scott Hamilton, all make appearances in the video "Overcomer" by American Idol alumna Mandisa.

The video shows never-before-seen clips from Giffords' recovery from the gunshot head wound she received during the January 2011 shooting rampage in Tucson.

"We can't always control what happens to us in life, but we can control how we respond," Giffords said in a statement. "Like the song says, if we keep positive and 'stay the fight till the final round,' we can overcome more than we ever dreamed possible."

The video was first played Thursday morning on "Good Morning America."
