Prolific tweeter/superhero Newark, N.J., Mayor Cory Booker is continuing to raise cash for his potential Senate run. And on Monday, Booker will do so at what is arguably Washington's coolest bourbon bar, the Jack Rose Dining Saloon in the Adams Morgan neighborhood, described on Yelp as "urban hipster" and a place "you will leave buzzed but in a more knowledgeable, cultured way."
The Sunlight Foundation's Political Party Time, a blog that tracks political fundraisers, writes that at the fundraiser, "there's sure to be fixed gear bicycles, cuffed jeans and lots of PBR to go around. And if that doesn't get you, then maybe the prices will."
The Booker event is an affordable $40 for those under the age of 35, or $100 for general admission.
"House of Cards" intrepid reporter Zoe Barnes a.k.a. actress Kate Mara announced Monday afternoon that she would be introducing Cory Booker at his D.C. fundraiser this evening.
"[I'm] excited and honored," she wrote on Twitter.
Jack Rose Dining Saloon also tells Whispers that the fundraiser sold out immediately, and so the bar is opening up an extra floor for the event. Some 300 guests are expected. The bar has created a special blue punch for Booker that the saloon says has not yet been named.
Meanwhile, in Chicago Monday night, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., will hold a much fancier fundraiser at a business mogul's home, where the cost for attendance to the private dinner ranges from $1,000 to $10,400.
Neither campaign could be reached immediately for comment on its fundraiser.
