Several days after CNN published, then deleted, a story about how women are more likely to vote liberal when they are ovulating, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee says women are worse at multitasking than men because of their menstrual cycles.
Huckabee made the comment on his Facebook page Monday morning, noting that he wanted to share some lighter news as many Americans braced for Hurricane Sandy.

"According to a Stockholm University study, men are actually better at [multitasking]," he wrote. "Test subjects had to simultaneously monitor three clocks and a list of names scrolling by on a computer screen. They found that men were consistently able to do it, while women scored worse during their menstrual cycles. Researchers believe high estrogen levels interfere with women's spatial abilities."
The study from Stockholm University in Sweden was not reported on by any major news sites in the U.S., though it is due to be published in a peer-reviewed journal Psychological Science.
CNN came under fire for their ovulation story because while the study was also due to be published in a peer-reviewed journal, many felt it failed to include a healthy dose of skepticism and made too many assumptions about the sexes.

Huckabee closed his Facebook message with a warning to men that may similarly raise a few eyebrows:
"If you men plan to tell your wives that you're better at multitasking than they are because they don't think as clearly during certain times of the month," he wrote, "you'd probably better do it while simultaneously shielding your head and running for the door."
Huckabee has gotten into trouble for comments he's made about women before.
During his speech at the Republican convention, Huckabee made what some viewed as a sexist remark when he said: "The only hitch in an otherwise perfect week was the awful noise coming from the hotel room next door to mine. Turns out it was just Debbie Wasserman Schultz, practicing her speech for the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte next week. Bless her heart."
Wasserman Schultz, a Florida congresswoman and Democratic National Commitee chair, told U.S. News she believed Huckabee "has a problem with a strong woman's voice."
