GOP Making Money Off Hilary Rosen Remark

Rosen's remarks were probably not meant to be a jab at motherhood (although they were) but rather an attempt to depict Ann Romney as out of touch with the economic struggles of a many Americans. One does not have to be poor to be compassionate or aware of others.

As a Roosevelt, Eleanor Roosevelt came from a very privileged background. was pretty much her husband's conscience. If he had followed her lead, the Armed Forces would have intergrated long before Truman. She also acted, in a real sense, as his eyes and ears. Mrs. Obama should not have been pilloried for her expensive footwear or clothing. As long as the taxpayer is not footing the bill, it is no one's business what she spends. When she and her family, however, take exotic trips to Africa, Spain or send their daughter to Mexico and spend lavishly on State dinners then there is the perception that they are out of touch. It would be wise for friends of the Obamas not go down that road.

Maybe this will bring to the forefront what women who choose to be home-moms are facing. In the 1960's when the media began to play a bigger role on society, Woman's Lib, NOW and the left generally have supported a certain kind of women. Conservative women are depicted as not so bright and housewives are depicted as just plain too dumb to work outside of the home. This is ridiculous! To get a recent taste, Google ShePAC and watch their video. You will never see trash talk like this about liberals or their children. Working conservative women are put down for not staying home to raise their children. The ones who stay at home are put down as uninformed and UN-knowledgeable. As if a working woman has a vast array of experience. It is appalling

She's still a rich old biddy who had the OPTION to stay at home, which, judging by the twitter feed on this subject, seems to be the prevailing thrust of the Republican argument. Staying at home is now a luxury few women can afford- something Romney and the Republicans just don't understand.

Another dumb thing to say. Looks like Washington Whispers is full of people saying stupid things today. Would be nice to see people focusing on solutions instead of inane and hateful rhetoric.
