Gas Prices Grow More Under Obama than Carter

No Obama can not control oil prices directly but his government leadership can.

You need to only look at the weakness of the dollar and emerging markets like China and India. Supply and demand no longer works for the US because the demand is greater than it. Then you have rampant speculation that makes matters worse.

As long as the US continues to play by the old rules in this new economy gas prices will rise. We need to stop playing "footsie" with the rest of the world and start acting in OUR best interest.

I'm not one for government intervention in the market's but I do feel energy is a point of national security. Our government must regulate and intervene to control rampant speculation and provide incentives to keep the oil we refine here first before selling it on the open market.

It's not President Obama's fault.

The oil companies are generating record profits while continuing to maintain govt. subsidies dictitated by the GOP. The oil companies are also responsible for over 60% of the oil speculation.

Oil companies are Economic Terrorists.

So Obama controls Exxon_Mobil. I did not realize that he had those kind of powers. This is a stupid post where is the law of supply and demand. Maybe they need to change it to the law of supply, demand and speculation.

until we seriously adopt a national energy policy that recognizes the turbulence in the middle east as a driving force to acquire our own oil resources and with the help of canadian friends brings more from north america.uses to the fullest the natural gas souces, as well as clean coal, with new nuclear power into the grid..the world will control our destiny and we will continue to be required to send our troops to distant lands.

Right, that's my point Dr. Awesome. People pretend like they forget that gas was ever expensive before Obama took office, when in reality, the only reason the price of gas was so low when he took office is that we were in the midst of a deep recession and nobody was making anything. Therefore, gas was cheap. If anything, we should be glad gas went up after January, 2009 because it meant the economy was picking up steam.

Actually, Uncle Chester, gas was above $4 in July of 2008 and immediately went down to $1.60 by December of 2008 and shot up to $2.60 by June 2009 and hasn't gone down since. gasbuddy.com
